Multiple lashes fell out next day, I contacted Ms Lydia about it and she scheduled me a free fill, however canceled on me last minute due to emergency on her end. No follow up on her part, to which I would expect from a business owner. Requested classic set, was given hybrid. Being that I now go to another lash place, to compare services, I'm always given a fresh mat to lay my head on, and the new tech always uses rubbing alcohol on hands prior to touching my face/eyes, Ms Lydia did neither. I found a groupon to try lash lift+tint and I was very excited to try it for the first time ever. My mom wanted to try it out as well so I gifted her one too. She did a pretty good job on my lashes. I have naturally pretty long lashes but wanted them to be more emphasized and curled. One of my eyes was better than the other, though. A part of lashes one one of my eyes was stuck together and I tried brushing through it a bunch but it did not help. When the tint was added, it got in my eyes (although they were closed) which is normal but it made my eyes burn and water that I couldn't take it and asked her to take it off and she washed my eyes out with water after. My mom's lashes, on the other hand, were not done as well as mine. Quite honestly, my mom was very upset with them until the perm faded. She has shorter lashes but Ms. Lydia curled them so much that the length was gone and it looked like the letter 'c'. The main reason she is getting three stars is because of how my mom's lashes turned out. I wish I took pictures of hers before and after. They were all stuck together and way too curled.. to the point where when she put mascara on (if she could ever get it on because lashes were so curled that it got on her eyelids), they looked terrible and clumpy. Her lashes aren't normally clumpy. I think the problem was that Ms. Lydia didn't ask how curled she wanted them to be and she also did not thoroughly brush through them to make sure that they curl separately and don't clump together while it's perming. I think she might have just been used to people with shorter lashes because I see everyone else's reviews are great. It definitely lifted and curled, just not the way that we would've liked. We're sad that we weren't as happy with our final results. She was very kind, though. I am glad that I tried it because now I know that I need to tell the person doing my lashes how I want them to look, whether they ask or not. read more

Please, please do not go here. Lydia does not abide by the law and is completely unprofessional. I had paid for two deals on LifeBooker. The certificates had expired, but I decided to use the cash value and pay the difference for the $200+ service. I arrived at her house (her place if business), and she informed me that she was would only value the cash value on one of the gift certificates but not the other. We called Lifebooker together and the Lifebooker informed her that she had to redeem the original cash value of both certificates because it was a California law. SHE REFUSED TO DO SO. I could not believe it. She then refused to let Lifebooker refund me. THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE! She was unprofessional and treated me unkindly. I just purchased a deal online (that she made the decision to move forward with) and followed instructions from the Lifebooker employees. She tried to lecture me on what it was to be a business owner, but I find it odd that as a business owner she doesn't understand what is legal and illegal, or understand what customer service is. Please do not go here. There are several other places in the city (Lashfully, etc.) that are professional and conduct their businesses properly. I wanted to just let the world see that I was born with luscious lashes but then again, perfection is soooo boring ;). So the secret is out: Hands down... I love, LOVE, L.O.V.E Ms. Lydia and her quality of work. I can use all the help I can get to make the eyes and lashes refreshingly open, luscious, and NOT look fake, especially when waking up in the morning ;). Plus, anything to cut my prep time in the am, I'm all for! So along comes Ms. Lydia. I am cured of the cheap strip lash syndrome. It's not just a lash service, it's an experience! Ms. Lydia is a warm, funny, kind, and genuine person and operates out of her home business so you feel like you've known her forever. She took her time on my first trip to explain Novalash and how to care for them. I chose the dark, dramatic look (how very natural!). She taped my eyes shut. It was kind of uncomfortable at first and I got a bit teary-eyed but after a few minutes, I was totally fine. It's probably because I've never done this before. Unlike most first salon visits, Ms. Lydia makes you feel completely at ease with her pleasant chatter and laughter like you're a friend yet still very professional. She cracked me up and if I wasn't laughing, I was knocked out sleeping because of the classical music in the background and the warm ambiance. After an hour and a half, my lashes were done and when I woke up, the tapes were peeled off (didn't hurt at all), they looked absolutely fabulous! They were perfectly placed, not a single hair out of place, and full! You still couldn't tell unless you knew or were staring right at my face but you can tell how much they complement the eyes. She fixed my eyebrows and used her makeup to show tricks how to brighten and open up the eyes. Very cool and sooo addicting! I have returned several times since then in frequencies between 3 weeks to 5 weeks for refills. They stay on through blood, sweat, and tears, ie exercising, sweating, cooking, swimming, you name it! A simple brush with a clean mascara brush fixes everything. Mascara seems so 90's now. I have even referred my sister who loved her more conservative lashes too. The costs are reasonable but the whole experience with Ms. Lydia, her meticulous attention to detail, and great personality makes everything worth it and now a part of my regular girly maintenance routine. I bought a voucher for a set of full lashes by Ms Lydia from Lifebooker and was really excited to use these just in time for my wedding. I have had semi-permanent lashes before but they were really uncomfortable and done by some lady at a really cheapo salon, so I was excited to get some legit lashes! Buying the coupon was easy but being your typical type-A personality type, I figured I needed some more info about the lashes before booking my appointment, especially since this was for my BIG day. So, I email the address on her site and lo and behold, an assistant replies to me. The assistant basically gives me no information whatsoever and tells me that she is not in charge of booking lashes for Ms Lydia (uh.. ok, then what DO you know?) However, when I get ahold of Ms Lydia herself on the phone, she is super friendly, sweet, and answers all my questions. I am happy and decide to book my appointment later as my wedding was months away. A couple weeks later, I get a random email from Ms Lydia's assistant, asking me if I want to come in since Ms Lydia has an opening. My response is something along the lines of "Oh, I wanted to schedule something later, I can book something in a few months, is that ok?". I get an extremely short, rude reply from her assistant telling me basically that I'm stupid, she's already told me that she doesn't schedule appointments, duh, and to stop asking her to book an appointment... Uhm, okay then WHY did you email me to try to schedule me in??? Did I ask for an appointment? NO. Did I ASK you to email me? NO. If you do not know anything or schedule anything then why are you emailing me to book me?? Ugh, I was so upset I almost contacted Lifebooker to cancel my coupon. But, I decided that Ms Lydia herself was nice enough. When it finally came time to go in, I also had some scheduling difficulties with Ms Lydia. She had a family emergency but contacted me about it and though we had some scheduling bumps, I eventually got in. OK, now for the actual service itself, I'll keep this short and sweet: -Lashes: fabulous. I did not even feel them later. About half are still on now (5 weeks and counting) I looked great for my wedding and LOVE novalash! -Application: hurt like hell. Took an hour and she tapes your eyes shut (probably for safety) and I'm pretty sure a few lashes were sacrificed in the process (ie plucked out)- its not a walk in the park. But hey, no pain no gain. -Service day-of: Ms Lydia is such a happy person. I was in extreme discomfort, but chatting with her made me feel better. -Value: These lashes are not cheap! She is pricey because she is NovaLash certified, but hey for my wedding, its a go. -Plus: she waxed my eyebrows. Woot! Ms Lydia is lovely, her lashes are lovely, just be on top of the scheduling business and stay away from above mentioned assistant. read more

WOW. I usually get my lashes done at a different salon back on the East coast and they last only about 2 weeks. I found Lydia on lifebooker and purchased the coupon for the diva set of eyelashes for my wedding. She was able to squeeze me in and spent about 2.5 hours working on my eyes. She was so sweet and professional. It's been 3 weeks now and they are still PERFECT!! Lydia took extra care of me because it was my wedding adding tons tons tons more lashes so they would be crazy full. I loved them so much that I just scheduled another appointment for fill ins. I have always had a bad experience with lash extensions. Don't get me wrong, Lydia was very personable, nice, and professional. I had a problem where the lashes were detaching after week (despite the care recommendation Lydia gave me). The lashes started poking my eyelids causing pain and irritation. I was desperate to have them removed due to the pain. She was not available so I decided to call about 8 lash extension professionals to get it off ASAP. The girl that removed it said that the bond that is used is often too heavy and Lydia used too much of the adhesive causing the lashes to sag and bend in different directions. Not only did she fit me in at the last minute, but she selected a lash perfect for my hair / skin tone. I've been to Lydia several times for lash extensions and eyebrow microblading. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue with the gorgeous eyelash extensions she put on me. My eyes just continued to reject the lashes no matter who applied them or what length or fullness. Lydia's lashes were always beautifully. I'm sad I can't have them. However, I LOVE my eyebrows. I had 1 main appointment and then a free touch up, included in the price. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE MY BROWS!! It's been 8 months (March 2017) and I need another touch up. I have always had very few, fine eyebrows. Since I have very sparse, fine eyebrows, sadly they are now even thinner since menopause. She made my eyebrows look like actual hair growing and in the correct direction that my natural eyebrows would grow, if I had any. Ms. Lydia is okay. She did my left eye beautifully!! So it's not like she doesn't have the talent or precision to do the job accurately. But when it came to my right eye, I feel like she rushed it and did a very sloppy job :( to the point where I was embarrassed if people looked at me. It didn't look symmetrical to my left eye. My right eye had lashes pointing in all different directions. I pointed this out right when i looked in the mirror, but she said she did that purposely to look "natural." Okay? Then how come my left eye didnt look like that? I couldn't stand it to the point where I had to pull them all off.. So upon peeling them off of my natural lashes, I saw why the lashes were pointing in different directions. It's because the glue dried to some of the other lashes, forcing them to stay in that odd direction. Brushing them wouldn't have fixed the problem. It was the way the lashes were glued. I got a deal through LifeBooker. The first set, she will do a "natural" look. In other words, she won't put that many lashes on you. No one noticed I even had extensions after my first appointment :( She talks you up about how good you look after the procedure, but who else wouldn't boast about their work..? She does in fact work out of her home, so don't expect a salon. No watchers either. My sister wanted to watch me during my appointment, but was asked to stay out of the room. I'm just going to take my deal from LifeBooker as a loss :( I'm not going back for a fill, nor am I going to go back and ask her to fix it, seeing I've already gone back and asked her to fix mistakes from a prior appointment. Lydia is very fun and talkative. She does eyelash extensions at her cute Victorian style home. I had the option to choose from two different glues. The regular Nova lash glue or Nova lash glue for sensitive eyes. since my eyes are extremely sensitive I picked the second option. I chose to go for the wild diva look. Full, long and thick extensions. don't get me wrong my lashes looked very glamorous, but only few days after getting the new set, the lashes started bending to wrong directions and looking messy. I went back to fix them and she only charged $ 30 to repair the damage. after a week my eyes started hurting and the extensions were causing me a lot of dis comfort. She used way too much glue on my lashes. They felt thick and heavy. And since she decided to use the thickest eyelash extensions they also looked more fake than glamorous. I never went back to her. i removed her thick extensions and got a new set at another place. Now they feel soft and light. read more

Lydia is a sweet person but her skill in lash extensions doesn't even deserve one star. I had my lashes applied yesterday and had them removed today out of fear of what would happen to my poor lashes if they stayed on a day longer. I've had extensions for 6 months so I'm familiar with a good service and this experience left me terrified to ever try them again. Long story short... she uses way too much glue and didn't separate to apply them to single lashes. I had clumps of lashes together, which would severely damage my lashes and new growth if left on too long. At one point during the service I asked if my lid was glued shut because it felt like I couldn't open my lid and she assured me it was just what I was feeling from the tape under my eyes. WAIT FOR IT.. I couldn't open my eyes when she was done applying because some areas were glued to my bottom lashes. She fixed it but pulling my lids apart, which was very painful. 3 or 4 times I yelled ouch because she was pulling a lash out doing whatever she was doing. My eyes wouldn't stop watering after, and a few hours later my lids started swelling and were very red. They were also very tender to the touch because they were applied too close to my lash line, which is why they were getting really irritated. I even had one lash towards the center of my lid I scraped off with tweezers. Luckily I found a place to remove them for me today and she was mortified at how my lashes looked. I can't speak to her other services, I'm sure she's great at makeup, but PLEASE please please avoid this place for lash extensions Reply: Ms Lydia please do not imply that the reaction and pain I experienced was due to pollen. I have a doctorate in the medical field and know the difference. I have had lashes for 6 months elsewhere. In fact they were 2D volume, I would hope a skilled lash artist would be able to tell that over 1:1 you implied I had. My eyes were fine going into the appointment and I had no seasonal allergies. The reaction I had was due to the lashes being stuck on my skin and way too tightly. And let's not forget I couldn't open either eye once you were done due to too much glue. I also remember you saying my left eye likes to water but my right eye was fine. Well it was the right eye that wouldn't stop watering after the appointment and was the first to swell. I actually got them wet as soon as I got home and they didn't come off. And I still in fact have clumps of glue on my lashes since the removal. read more
