I had the most amazing experience working with Lucky and Stephanie. They made the entire process easy and enjoyable. I attended my girlfriend's wedding and was blown away with how beautiful she looked. I knew that I had to get Lucky and Stephanie for my big day. I was extremely fortunate to have them glam me up for both my Cambodian and Western ceremonies. To be honest, I was a little nervous about our make up trial because I knew it was going to take a few hours and spending this amount of time with two strangers might be a little awkward BUT I was so wrong. I got my makeup done for an event because I'd be taking a lot of pictures. I think there can be a misconception with doing makeup "for pictures" because in person it can look a little crazy. The soft glam that Lucky does looks bomb in pictures AND in person! Getting my makeup done by Lucky was such a treat. She made sure my skin was pampered and prepped before she started which makes such a difference in application. I told her about my concern with having hooded eyelids which can make applying eyeshadow a bit of a challenge. Lucky made sure that I was happy with the shape she created. She asked to see pictures of how I normally do my eyebrows to make sure she got that right too - insisting that I let her know if anything needed to be tweaked. When I originally starting looking for a wedding makeup artist, I wanted someone who knew how to do makeup for Asians since I, along with all my bridesmaids, are Asian. Before our trial, she had me send her a photo of an example of the look I was going for, focusing on every little detail. She also had me send her a photo of my "going out look" so that she had an idea of what I was comfortable with. This was just one way she went above and beyond. Stephanie is her main hairstylist who was so sweet as well! I couldn't pinpoint how I wanted to do my hair for a few months. I kept changing my mind and sent her different photos of ideas. She was so patient and helped me figure out the look I was wanted & one I was comfortable with. On my wedding day, my hair was PERFECT! Couldn't be happier, she definitely nailed it! As a Wedding Photographer who has had the honor to work with Lucky on several occasions, I can't rave enough about her and her hair stylist partner Stephanie. I literally refer them to all of my brides if they are looking for a makeup and hair stylist for numerous reasons: 1. The make up and hair always looks freaking stunning, especially in photographs which is very important. Brides literally walk out of the makeup chair looking like golden goddesses or Victoria Secret Models. Perhaps because Lucky and Steph do this professionally, full time, on actual models for commercial shoots as well. 2. Lucky can work on any skin tone and is not limited to skin colors and matching faces to the body. As a photographer, I unfortunately see some makeup artists make brides faces super white compared to their bodies, and it doesn't photograph well, especially with flash photography. But not Lucky! She knows how to match your face to skin tone and makes it airbrushed and absolutely flawless for photos. 3. Lucky is aware of time when it comes to a wedding day. Disclaimer: This review is for services in October 2015 :) I was lucky (get it hehehe) enough to be able to book Lucky for my October reception. Even though I am not fortunate enough to have a west coast zip code, she was able to fit me in while she was vacationing on the east coast just in time for my reception. Lucky really helped calm my nerves; not only was there the whole wedding reception details that I had to worry about, but I was also anxious about my makeup as I don't really get glamed up on the regular. Since we had to communicate mostly via emails and texts, I sent her a few looks and she was able to pinpoint exactly what it was in each picture what I liked about them in order to give me a full look and I did have a lot on my want list: nice, classic, timeless makeup, glowing look, all the while hiding any blemishes and redness without looking like a cartoon or someone other than me. What we ended up with was a perfect glowing look as I didn't want to look "too made up". Although she is not a hair stylist, she also did my hair (and it stayed up the entire night and during the after party too!) I felt absolutely beautiful on my day and my friends even complimented her work saying my makeup was on fleek! I was floored because my name and "on fleek" have never been used together in a sentence before!! Lucky also did my grandmother's and my BIL's girlfriends makeup. After she was done, they just sat there, admiring their reflections in the mirror. We just couldn't believe the magic she was able to create for us, everyone looked and felt so beautiful and amazing. This might be a cliche thing to say, but when you feel confident, you will radiate that and everyone around you will see. Well, that night, the 3 of us did just that! Another thing about Lucky besides her awesome makeup skills is her demeanor. During the makeup session, there was chaos all around us; people trying to get ready; coordinators on the phone figuring out where decorations and boxes were; catering issues. It really was a bit frazzling; but Lucky stayed her course and remained really calm. She helped create this pocket of zen-ness that really just allowed me to be in the moment before the party began. I contacted Lucky a few months before my wedding and like any other bride, I had my options open. I reached out to three other MAU and Lucky was the first to respond, she was very professional and informed me of her prices per bride and bridesmaids (which are pretty great, for the AMAZING work Lucky and Stephanie do) BTW, Stephanie is the hairstylist! So already she had my attention, I no longer had to look for someone to do my hair!! A Brides dream come true (less work). So the next step was to meet these two ladies, I was a bit nervous but when they arrived to my house I already knew it would all be OK. They were very friendly and helpful when it came to choosing a style. I asked Lucky to Create a simple natural look, i don't wear much make up, so i was a bit scared my face was going to look like a piece of cake... but it didn't!! Lucky did a fantastic job and the best thing was that this was just the trial so I knew on my wedding day it would look even better. In regards to my hair, I had an idea of what I wanted but Stephanie reassured me of my style and did it!! It looked great! It was an updo, and with updos the hardest part is to hold it up... but it lasted all day and so did the make up. The day of the wedding, went so smooth..
