There is limited street parking which can be a bit of a challenge but the setting is so lovely that it is worth it. Admission to the market place is free. It was advertised as having 52 vendors and I would guess there wasn't even half of that. The vendors that were there sold sunglasses, clothing, second hand items, home services like gutters, and jewelry. My favorite vendor was Carolyn who sold second hand jewelry on the porch of the New River Inn. I loved poking through her treasures. She got all my money and I left with an opal ring, silver chain, and two pendants. Bring cash with you because some vendors like Carolyn do not accept cards.The event was advertised as having food and the only vendor I saw was Taco Baja selling tacos. There are a ton of restaurants in the area if the on site food is not to your liking. The museum is open during the market and adults can tour for $15. The New River Inn was built in 1905 and was one of Ft. Lauderdale's earliest hotels. History Ft. Lauderdale operates several historic buildings in this one area. The New River is very picturesque and it is a great place to take a stroll even if there is nothing going on. I enjoyed my market visit. These types of outdoor markets are very popular now and I think the great location has the potential to make this market a major event, especially if they add some more food and merchandise vendors.

I won't go to a rodeo because I don't find abusing animals entertaining but a craft show on the other hand is right up my alley. This is an annual event sponsored by the town of Davie. The event was advertised as having 100 vendors. I don't think there were quite that many but they had a lot. Admission and parking were free. The tents filled the rodeo arena and outside it as well. People were selling plants, floral arrangements, zombie soup mix, jewelry, lights in alcohol bottles, soap, dream catchers, a tiny fairy garden, woodwork, stained glass, baked goods, clothes, bags, and a myriad of other hand made goods. They also had food and drink vendors and bounce houses and kids corner activities for children . The grounds were perfect for the craft show. There were plenty of clean bathrooms. The weather was gorgeous, the vendors were varied, and with the upcoming holidays it was the perfect time to shop. It is good to support the local arts community. This is a nice hometown event perfect for kids and adults.

Turns out, they had the saddest shrimp cocktail I've ever seen, a pernil, and a seafood paella that lacked all the flavors. Didn't even bother to take a pic of it. The vendors, as depicted in my photos, brought it. We had crab cakes, stone crab, seafood broil, sautéd shrimp & veggies and lobster rolls. Everything from the vendors were delicious! The lesson is, do not get the VIP when coming to this. Trust the vendors. They deliver with great prices.

It is winter in South Florida and that means two things, beautiful weather and festivals. Today is…read morethe 12th annual Riverwalk Stone Crab & Seafood Festival at Esplanade Park in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The street is closed off in front of the Museum of Science and Discovery. Sponsored by Rivertail, the festival features music, craft beer, shopping, and of course a ton of seafood. You can compete in $2 crab races all day and there is a $35 beer garden. The seafood is an amazing assortment being cooked up under tents and in food trucks. Lobster, crab, shrimp, and fish, both by themselves and in dishes. I saw shrimp scampi, paella, jambalaya, lobster macaronic and cheese, coconut shrimp, and peel and way shrimp to name just a few things. Stone crabs were going for a hefty $10 a claw and no one seemed to mind paying it. I enjoyed a lobster roll from my favorite food truck Captain Lobstar. The closest parking is the museum garage at $15 but if you come early you can find street parking and parking in the small side street lots. You also get to enjoy shorter food lines. The festival runs until 4 o'clock.

They were happy to take my request and were incredibly kind throughout the entire process. The texture and flavor of the bread was impeccably fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with blueberries perfectly balanced so that it wasn't overly sweet but still had that delicious fruity taste in each bite. I would absolutely recommend this farm to anyone looking for locally made sourdough.
