There's also signs in the window advertising cheap beer, cider and alcopops - which makes it a dream destination for teenagers and drunks. I've popped in a few times for bottles of Sol and Corona when the other off licenses in the area were already closed but I wouldn't touch most of the wine with a barge pole. With such cheap prices, I'm imagining most of it probably tastes like battery acid. You can probably find a couple of decent bottles if you look hard enough but I'd rather go to an off license with a passion for good wine and liquor.

Currently, with lots of special offers over the new year period, now would be a good time to stock up for those rainy days. The signage is pure Farrow & Ball and there's wooden crates artfully displaying mountains of butternut squash, sweet potaties and oranges. Two steps inside however, and you realise the owners have created more of a post-modern corner store with everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, organic eggs, milk and cheese to homemade cakes, soups and palm-sized quiches. The majority of it looks lip-smackingly good and is priced reasonably with coffee, pastries and salads to take away for commuters. Handily, they also sell big bags of rice, pasta, pulses and herbs and lots of Ecover household and cleaning products. In a strange twist, they also stock a small variety of rental DVDs from the owner's previous business - so you can pick up a blockbuster or rom-com with your grains and groceries!

It did seem a little bit cheaper than other markets in the area, which is great if you just spent £24 on a ticket to London!

They sell single bottles and six packs of everything from Sol and Corona to fruit flavoured beers, ciders and ale. They also sell about a dozen different varieties of vodka from Absolut and Stolichnaya to Grey Goose. The reason I go however, is they're one of the few shops that sell my favourite tipple - seven year old, Havana club rum. The only question is, cuba libre or mojito?

You could probably buy a sauce a day from here and not run out in a year. Definitely worth stopping in, especially if you need a gift or something for someone who loves spicy food.
