The foos was good, but I felt that shrimp portion was too small (6 medium shrimp) I was told the bbq ribs would be served with potatoes au gratin and it was a bed of french fries. Seriously so good. Staff is so kind, margaritas are dangerously tasty and the food is always delicious. Can never decide what to get because it's all so good, so I usually go with the taste of Maiz special and split with a friend. Grilled romaine salad & their flan also so good. First make sure to call ahead to see if it is busy because wow it was super slammed when we stopped and I can see why from the amazing food to staff. Please it was around 6:30 so prime time on Taco Tuesday. Firstly, my husband and I got done moving from OC to Corona and were starving!!! However, we had no idea where to go. This shopping mall in general is a catch. We found this on Yelp. Secondly, we were just drop ins. We got sat right away and you could tell the staff were passionate about what they were doing! They were super sorry about wait time for food but honestly the food is worth it. Juan is attentive, efficient, a pretty amazing multitasker as well as the whole kitchen and staff!! Thirdly, OMG the foooooooddd!!! Hands down the best food my husband and I have had in a long time. It was super fresssshhhhh and not what we were expecting (as in you tasted every ingredient). You do not get that fresh of food in Orange County and it is worth the drive just for that but luckily it is right down the street now ;). Please note the prices are higher but it is worth it for the food and customer service. For ambiance it was a little loud but a very beautiful restaurant. I got the chicken enchilada mole and I have to say it was not good. The tortilla was so hard it was difficult to eat. Also they barely added any mole to my enchiladas. Very very dry and not flavorful at all I'd say very bland. Alcoholic drinks were good though and service was great . It's the poor quality of the food that was disappointing. read more

There are a couple of food trucks at my office complex at Lakeshore Towers in Irvine every day. I generally avoid food trucks bc I find them overpriced and unsatisfying. However, MAIZ pleasantly surprised me w/ hearty food at a reasonable price. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos ($13 | inc black beans & rice). They also have carnitas, shrimp burritos and other items. The pieces of fish in the tacos were large, moist and nicely seasoned. MAIZ has two types of salsa, and both were fresh and full of flavor. Secondarily, the rice was fluffy and the beans weren't overcooked like most places: 4 Stars. My tacos took a while, but the wait was worth it. The chef cooked the fish medium rare so they meat was moist. I didn't mind waiting longer vs other who ordered after me. MAIZ will be my go to place when I don't have time to drive to get a less expensive meal. The food is very good, and you will not leave hungry. read more

This is an upscale mexican restaurant. The food is tasty and I love the food presentation. I have tried their breakfast and dinner menu. I personally don't recommend the breakfast. I've tried their chilaquiles and the huevos rancheros. I wasn't a fan, the chilaquiles were soggy and the huevos rancheros sauce was terrible ( it was a tomato sauce with no spice to it). I do however love their cafe de la olla. The 5 stars are purely based on the dinner menu. Everything I've tasted is absolutely delicious. From the chips and salsa, appetizers, drinks, and entrées ( not crazy about the dessert selection). My faves are the pork belly, the taquitos, carnitas, and the chile colorado. read more

This food truck was at my daughter's soccer tournament at Silver Lakes in Norco and was a revelation. The truck is nice and clean with lots of options and the service is fast and super friendly. We had the carne asada nachos to share and the blackened salmon tacos. The nachos looked like a work of art and tasted amazing. The tacos were a huge hit, as well. I first came across this food truck when we went to a wine pick up party in Lake Forest and they happened to be there. Since then, I've had their food two other times at a brewery in San Juan Capistrano. The 1st time I tried their food, I was impressed. I ordered the 2 crispy tacos plate (1 carnitas taco, 1 chicken taco) and it came with rice & beans - all for just $9. The tacos were incredible. They were generous with the fillings and the taco shells were perfectly crispy and tasty. Even though I was full, I also got an order of their churros, and that was equally as fantastic. Soft, crispy and warm. It didn't come with a dipping sauce, but it also didn't need it. The 2nd time I came across them was at a brewery. They were running late (or the brewery advertised the wrong time that they would be ready). They were about 1/2 an hour past the supposed start time. They didn't have their crispy taco plate that day, so I ordered their carnitas nachos. Again... amazing! Chips were fried perfectly and with a little crisp on the edges. Lots of carnitas throughout the nachos, along with beautiful toppings. I ate the whole thing and was completely full. The 3rd time we saw them at the same brewery, and I ordered the 2 crispy taco plates again. The food came out super fast. The first thing I noticed was that the shells were greasy, to the point where oil was dripping out of the sides and the back of the shell was completely greasy and wet. The oil almost burned my mouth when it dropped out. Also, both taco shells fell apart (that didn't happen before). The flavor was still there, but the overall construction and presentation was lacking. If I hadn't had my most recent experience with the greasy tacos, I'd probably give them 4.5 stars. I'm dropping the rating down to 4 stars because of that experience and also because they don't advertise ahead of time where their truck is going to be each day. Maybe if you are one of those guys that does not really like Mexican food, or maybe it was just that I didn't get the right thing, but the offerings were lacking. I ordered a single chicken taco and a carne asado taco, and both came on a pair of small packaged tortillas with a little pile of meat, onions and cilantro. There was plenty of meat for the small tortilla portion, but the tortillas were small. My problem was that the meat was flavorless. They chicken was like if they bough boneless, skinless chicken breast and then cooked it without adding much seasoning.
