Finally an Istrian restaurant in Brussels!!
As soon as I heard that an Istrian restaurant has opened I had to go and check it out. Being an Istrian myself you can imagine how high my expectations were - they were all met and I will definitely be returning.
The restaurant is located in a nice and lively area of Avenue Louise. It doesn't have it's own parking but there are always plenty places on the streets nearby. Also, it's very convenient to come by tram.
The decor is very modern and resembles a wine bar. Also, they have a quiet terrasse in the back perfect for enjoying a glass of wine in the warm weather.
Let's now get to the menu. Everything that is offered is originating from Istria, from ingredients to the wine. The chef is also from Istria and the pasta is made in the house. They only serve a few dishes which they perfect and the dishes change as per seasons.
The owners, who are also Istrian, were present at the restaurant during the whole evening and were attending to each guest at the restaurant which created a very friendly atmosphere.
My friend and I weren't too hungry so we only went with some wine accompanied by a platter of cheese and meats. The wine was very fresh, full body and flavourfull. They offer 3 types of platters - cheese, meat or a mix of cheese and meat. We took the mix and were more than satisfied. The platter had several different types of cheese - goat, cheese with truffels, etc. Also the meat was very tasty and fresh and all from Istria. They served as well several different types - pršut (prosciutto), pancetta, sausage, ombolo (lomo), etc.
At the end we finished our evening with some delicious Višnjevac, which is a typical digestive made from cherries.
To conclude, all my expectations were met and this will definitely become one of my regular spots in Brussels. read more
