San Rafael was colonized by French settlers and it's reflected in some of the towns architecture and especially Maison Couturier. The property is spacious with an abundance of greenery and French style cottages throughout the grounds. Everywhere you look is scenic, there are multiple pools, and a spa.
I cannot speak to the rooms as we did not stay here, but we came for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant area is adorable with lovely decor and a nice outdoor space. Everything was tasty starting from the toast with butter and jam to the esponjaditas I ordered. I had never even heard of esponjaditas but I decided to give them a try and omg were they good.
Esponjaditas are basically like a fry bread that's spongy and rises. They serve it with beans, eggs, cheese, crema, and salsa and you can put as much as you'd like on it, which makes it sink down. It was sooo good, I'd order it ten times.
Service was ok - a bit slow and the reason I knocked down the star. But still well worth the visit. read more
