Traveled here with my sister as part of a bus tour exploring the Vipiteno/Sterzing/South Tyrol area of Italy. Our tour guide Eva introduced our tour group to this wine shop establishment where we sampled several featured wines. Toni was the man working this place and he was funny, informative, and very personable. I thank him for introducing the 2011 La Cacciatora Moscato D'Asti because I can mention right now its not even carried at any of the local wine shops I searched in without having to special order it. the La Cacciatora brand has to be one of the most delicious Moscatos I've had tried in a long time. I even bought a whole 6 pack case, which in USD is roughly $5.50/per bottle thanks to the useful tip of Toni's assistant. When coming back from Sueddtirol, we always do a little stop in Sterzing (Vipiteno) to do some food and wine shopping. Usually we stop at the Hofer Market, which is more an industrial place with large quantities, but sadly we seem to be coming home on Mondays - and the Hofer Market is closed. So this time we went to the Mair Mair, a delicatessen store in the heart of Sterzing. On two levels you get anything from clothing, bags, scarfs to wine, eau de vie chutneys, cheeses, gift baskets and charcuterie. Lovely location and very knowledgeable staff that helps you find the right wine. free parking and a loyalty card on top of that - and we spent about 250 on wine and nibblies. read more
