With that said; here are some insights that may be helpful: 1) You can see by the examples I've attached, he takes pride in his craft. Great detail work/realism and a good knack for placing tattoos in the proper place. 2) Pricing was always fair. You get what you pay for - quality work done with quality ink in a sanitary environment. 3) John has always kept to his schedule and was always ready to start tattooing upon my arrival to his shop. Sessions for large pieces go from anywhere between 3-4 hours. 4) his shop is clean and his tattoo area is organized. He always sanitizes the area you are getting tattooed before, during, and after the tattoo. 5) John has a great personality - we got a long great from the get go. He's super easy to talk to. 6) His shop is consistently booked so be patient getting a time slot booked. That was the first thing that shocked me - how far out he is usually booked; sometimes months. It's worth the wait though! In conclusion, I definitely recommend going here if you're looking for a tattoo artist in the Butler area.

I found her intricate tattoo work on Instagram and made an appointment for a consult: I was looking to have a full back piece done for a special, meaningful rite-of-passage. After agreeing to a modest deposit, Rachel translated a sketch of what I wanted into a gorgeous preview of my soon-to-be body art. It took about seven months to complete, but every two weeks when I showed up for an appointment she had hot tea prepared, a privacy screen set up (per my request) and made sure to check on my comfort level when she noticed extra tension from me after hours under the needle. I can't imagine a better experience than the thought and consideration Rachel provided at Ice 9. This is a great photo of our progress a few sessions in. She has gained a client for life. I sent Sean McCarthy two pictures of what I wanted, and he said he could do it. The outcome is NOTHING like those pictures. I'll take credit for not getting up to look at the placement, or the stencil once it was put on my body - but I don't understand how anyone..especially someone who's been a tattoo artist for over 30 years could even have a reason or excuse on what they were doing here. It looked like a tattoo I would have paid someone to do for practice in their basement. It was so bad that I wanted to wear a long sleeve shirt all summer. I hated it, and had to pay someone else to cover it. I asked him if he'd just cover it with a black diamond so that I could go and get someone else to put some white ink over it. (Anything at this point to get it off my body.) He said he'd add color but didn't want to cover it. I really don't leave bad reviews, but I will on every site and show this to anyone who wants to get work done here. Thank GOD I was able to get it covered with something beautiful by Alan at Empire Tattoo.
