Whenever I'm in town I make a point of stopping at the Kada Gallery. Growing up in Erie I never…read morerealized that there were art galleries. Those were fantastical places that only existed in larger cities like New York or L.A., and we're manned by pretentious hipsters in unrelieved black. This place is nothing like that. Although in a fairly high end local commercial area, the place almost has the feeling of walking into a home. While the main room is what you might expect to see when thinking of an "art gallery" the rest of the place is an eclectic plethora. The oxymoron "ordered chaos" comes to mind. Many of the walls are hung salon style, and nearly every surface is covered in some type of art. They have a wide array of pieces. Most of it seems to be in the traditional style but there are some modern and a few funky surrealist pieces. One of my favorite artists featured there is a woman by the name of Mindy Duncan. If visiting you must check out her work or Brad Lethaby's figurative pieces. The place is quite a bit larger inside than it appears from the street, going much deeper into the building. Aside from the art museum I believe it is the largest place to view original artwork in the city of Erie. Although sizable, it has such a personal feel to it. When you walk in you are almost always greeted by the owner, who is more than happy to help you select framing or tell you about every artist and painting within the place, should you choose to ask. Most of the framing work is done by her husband in the gallery's lower level. All and all it truly is a wonderful place that is worth a look if you have a passion for art. It's in a merchant center where every one of the businesses are locally owned, and as such many of the shops around it are unique as well. My only criticism is that it can get a little warm in there during certain months of the year, but it's still a great place to unwind and spend a lazy summer afternoon.

It is a small gallery but Diny knows everything about what she has in stock. Plus she will hold items for you (so no one else can grab them), come to your house to hang them properly and even lets you "live with the painting" to see if you really like it. I ended up being here for over an hour chatting and searching her stuff. A great experience.

Though we now live in Toronto, we bought our first two after browsing in her London gallery on two different occasions. She has tons of paintings of various styles and in sizes from 12"x12" to 72x72" and probably bigger. Prices also obviously vary by size and artist, but I doubt you'll get a better deal elsewhere than from Diny. I've seen some pieces at other galleries by artists she works with and she's been able to get it for me at a much better price point. Service is exceptional. She'll come to your house and hang art so you can live with it for a week or two before pulling the trigger on purchasing. She'll bring other works you might be interested in to see how they work in your space. She's got a great eye for what will suit. I'm hoping to check out the new gallery the next time I'm in London even though these latest two purchases will fill our walls for now. Check her gallery out, you won't regret it!
