The only other stylist in San Francisco who'd ever done a good job with my hair had apparently moved out of country since then but thankfully she recommended Michelle with enough accolades that I figured that if she was even half that good, I'd be set. And here's the thing, when I showed up she had really bad morning sickness and was super nauseated and still did a better job (and was even friendlier to this semi-introvert) than most people who touch my hair when they're feeling tip-top. Michelle is nice, sweet, and refreshingly sincere. She did a very good job cutting my hair. She did a nice job styling it and was nice enough to ask about product before putting anything in. (She explained the stuff she uses is pretty natural but I was hanging out with a finicky friend after so I opted "no".) Nobody stopped me but my friend noticed and said it was cute. I'm always weary though because when my hair is styled right after a cut it usually always looks good. The truth of the matter comes for me the next day because my hair has a mind of it's own and refuses to fall the in similar ways day in and day out. It's curly one day and straight the next and poofy another day. But here's the thing: The day after I got it cut (ie-today) I didn't even brush my hair and everyone (familiar faces and strangers alike) was like, "OMG, I love your hair. That's so cute." A few different girls stopped to compliment me on my hair and flirt with me. I normally get some attention but as a fat androgynous feminine trans person there's usually limits to the amount of attention I get from other queer femmes. Not today. I think Michelle may deserve the credit for that one as I was walking around in sweats with my nose in a book today. It was kind of weird on one instance since one person who complimented me was an acquaintance who in 3 years has never so much as one made eye contact and smiled directly at me before.... and there they were like, "Oh, I love your hair." *huge sincere toothy smile and just kept looking at me* But yeah, Michelle has my former-punk-but-still-look-the-part hair needs covered and will be my go-to gal for cuts. I will try to remember to brush my hair the next day, but hey, apparently her skills have me covered in the cuteness department even if I don't.

She is the color queen. She's so pleasant and easy to talk to, and if you're lucky, her sweet dog Bender will take a shine to you and sit in your lap while you wait for your color to process. She sanitized all the brushes and tools she used in between each of us and kept everyone comfortable knowing she follows safety and sanitization protocols. She even wore a face shield to be in line with Covid safety recommendations. Overall, if I could give this woman a million stars, I would, because she's worth EVERY SINGLE ONE. I was 2 weeks away from my wedding (which was last Saturday!) and had not been happy with my makeup…read moreand hair trial that I'd had elsewhere. The makeup done in my first trial was so incredibly bad that it aged me at least 15 years. I looked pale, matte and tired. It was crazy! My first reaction after that was that I was going to do my own makeup for my wedding, but I truly didn't want to. After research and intuition I found Lisa. Not only was she the best communicator, but she was so incredibly reassuring that she understood what I was looking for and would not make me look like I did at the first trial. Being from SF I had no time for a make-up trial with her, but she did squeeze me in the day before the wedding to play with my hair and talk colors for makeup. Upon meeting her I hugged her. I just knew I was in the right hands. Hair trial super sweet and effortless, she knew exactly what to do based on what I wanted. The next morning she was right on time. She made my maid of honor look like she'd stepped out of a 1940s Vogue Magazine (my wedding was old timey). Then me - I am in tears thinking about it. I'd only had about 4 hours of sleep (brain would not shut off the night before!). Not only did I look awake, but absolutely flawless, the RIGHT colors in the right places, glowy, dewy, just spot on. I don't normally toot my own horn and call myself beautiful, but goodness did she make me so. She's a true pro. She was also super fun to hang out with and we were all at ease in her presence. What was bothersome though was when they started a conversation about people from other countries that didn't speak English well. East Indians and Filipinos to be exact. At one point my stylist made a crack about Democrats. I don't know who owns the business but I doubt they would not be happy about the polarizing subjects of conversation in front of customers.

When I went back in to speak with the manager Marci she was rude, talked to me like I was an idiot and told me the reason my hair came out like this was because the picture I showed the hair stylist was edited which makes absolutely no sense to me... Not worth the $200 they charged.... plus my bank statement from them said $288 when they only rang me up for $200.... this place is horrible and extremely shady!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!
