With my mother being super nit picky as well, Aimee handled her desires with grace and helped make all of us (myself, my mother, some of my bridesmaids, and my cousins) absolutely gorgeous on my wedding day! Going to recommend her to all of my friends when they plan their weddings :p

And when I say she does hair, I mean, she has some major talent!!!! On top of her being the BEST at what she does, she is a sweetheart to boot. Her prices are super affordable, and for what she is providing, it's worth every penny!!! We got married this past Friday 9/18/2020 at the Forest House Lodge in Foresthill. Originally, I wasn't going to attempt to find someone for hair and makeup, but while scrolling Facebook I stumbled across her page, and THANK THE GOOD LORD I DID!!!! She did a trial run for me in June, which was a month before our original wedding date, but it was postponed due to the Covid. She did amazing at the trial and was super open to hearing my visions. I didn't know what to expect, but she blew my mind when I saw what magic she was making!! Fast forward to September 18th, and she came to the lodge at 9am and started on all 5 of my bridesmaids and myself along with her partner Sarah who is also an extremely talented hairdresser!!! They worked flawlessly together and for each of my bridesmaids who they finished, I got more excited to see what she was going to do with me!! When it was my turn, I knew I could trust in her magical skills and she ran with it!! She had us all on point for the best day ever!!!! I've never felt so beautiful and it means the world to me that you were there!!! P.S. She sanitized all the brushes and tools she used in between each of us and kept everyone comfortable knowing she follows safety and sanitization protocols. She even wore a face shield to be in line with Covid safety recommendations. Overall, if I could give this woman a million stars, I would, because she's worth EVERY SINGLE ONE. If you're considering a hair and makeup artist but think it won't be worth the money, as I originally did, you really should check out Aimee. She's absolutely tops at what she does and is affordable as well. You will not be disappointed!!!!! Thanks Aimee!!!!

I have very fine hair, and Gillian used a razor texturizing technique on it that completely…read moredestroyed the shape and integrity of my haircut. It looked okay when styled in the salon, but once I got home it was obvious how uneven, awkward, choppy, and over-thinned one side had become. My hair no longer falls naturally or smoothly, and the ends now look frayed and damaged rather than cleanly cut. I have honestly never been this dissatisfied with a haircut before. I ended up having to go to another stylist to try to fix it, and even they told me there's only so much that can be corrected right now without taking off even more length. I was advised not to cut my hair again for several months so it can grow back enough density to reshape properly. I also think clients should be clearly warned before razor cutting or aggressive texturizing techniques are used, especially on very fine hair, since many people may not realize how dramatically it can change the texture and density of the cut. If you have very fine hair, I would strongly recommend being extremely cautious about razor cutting or aggressive texturizing techniques.

I am a simple lady with simple needs and usually stylists try to talk me into more than I want. But Maddy compassionately and professionally helped me achieve the look and hair treatment I was dreaming of. The salon is cute and classy with that steampunk meets mountain festival meets playful art vibe that Nevada City is known for. They have bubbly water! You must go see the bathroom theme! Unless you hate Ryan Gosling- then do not go in the bathroom. I can't wait to book with Maddy again.

Not worth the $400 hair cut & color. I had a consultation with Ally and I showed her pictures of what I was going for and the color I wanted and that went fine, no problems, but when I got done with my official appointment my hair didn't turn out how I wanted it from the photo. It was a 5 hour appointment and I paid $220 plus 20% tip for her time. A couple days go by and I compared the photo of what I wanted and my result and decided to ask her to fix it. I didn't clarify beforehand if the fix would be free of charge because that's been my experience at salons but no, not this time. I spent another $140 to leave the salon with still not really what I was going for and now it's been a month and still not impressed and pretty mad honestly that I spent that much money and got a result far from what I wanted but maybe it's not all her fault, maybe she thinks she did a good job or that she just did what she wanted, the photos I brought in of what I wanted didn't matter, maybe she doesn't have much experience, heck, she was the first person I made an appointment with since moving to a new area but I figured this salon could do better but I should've done more research. The color is so subtle hardly anybody has noticed I changed my hair and to spend $400 I definitely would've wanted it to be noticeable and receive lots of compliments-it's pretty disappointing. I'm not sure what to do either at this point besides get my frustration out in this review. I already tried going in to have it fixed and was charged and I'm not spending more than I already have...I could call the salon and complain but to what benefit? The receptionist probably won't care and what would Ally think of me sitting in her chair for the 4th time still unhappy with my results? Ally if you're reading this I'm sorry, you're a nice gal but $400 to not be impressed is not a good feeling. I'll attach photos below in case anybody reads this far and is curious. Left photo is the one I brought in and right is my result. No No

Let me also mention that I have had a very bad experience in the past with a makeup artist so was very hesitant about trusting anyone! So when I say this I mean it SHE HAS THE HANDS OF AN ANGEL, not only was she able to give me three looks while being flexible and gentle, she made me look fuego. Each look embodied a different person and I was so happy with all of em. As a brown skin gal I was so happy that she was able to match me so well and work with my forever twitching eye. She took her time, played good music, is EXTREMELY CLEAN, was professional and most of all had me feeling myself. Another big thumbs up was her ability to hear me when I said I wanted the glam but not caked up look. My skin actually felt hydrated when I left and once I took my makeup off i had no irritation.
