They do not enforce mask wearing (went three times since opening back up 3 weeks ago) and I will not be returning after spending a lot of time there over the years. A huge disappointment for my daughter, me and my friends. Constant excuses by management and staff with promises to "say something" but dont actually do so. I'd rather be safe at home than risk catching covid again. I shouldnt have to ask management to enforce people wearing masks properly to keep people safe. They had some ridiculous excuses, like oh we cant because what if we ask and the guest hurts us? Hire a bouncer! Thats not my problem! Then when I suggested they should be shut down if they cant enforce it, the sales manager stated "you are threatening us and we dont take that lightly" Um, what?! If i could give this place a 0 stars I would. The bartender, security and managers were very racist. My friend(mexican woman) and I (asian woman) tried to order drinks and they confiscated our ID's because they thought it was fake. I tried showing them another proof ID to show that the ID is actually me and they made some random excuse saying it was a fake ID. I had to call the hoffman estates police department and it took 1.5 hours to get my ID back. Don't ever go here. Draft Lagunitas are big - I think bigger than a pint.$7 a pop. They don't list their on draft beers - who knows why - so you'll need to ask to see what there is. Lagunitas is about as 'craft' as their beer selection gets. Pizza isn't great...A friend had to send the steak back...etc...So I don't recommend eating here. Go for the drinks and fun - skip the food. Really slow service. We couldn't ever find our server (on a slow night with many open tables) to refill our drinks. My friends joked about ordering 2 drinks in every order because it'd be a good hour before she came back. She had me down for 3 beers...and I had 5! Good thing I'm a honest gal and told her how many I *actually* had....but if this is always the case, I'm sure they'll see money flying out the door! My family had a blast. Well, that's a small fib, my husband did get a little overwhelmed at the crowds, but I'm used to that. Indoor places get crowded, especially over winter break and especially on Mew Year's Eve :-) Here's my advice, call first. I've called more than once to ask questions and that has helped the anxiety of being in a gigantic line and the various packages. Ask questions at the counter because they are not going to offer you help. Once you get there, sign up for the things you want to do: bowling, laser tag or the ropes course. The wait is going to be long, just face it, so sign up then play the arcade games while you wait. Lastly, get a glass of wine and chill while your kids have a blast...they have no idea how crowded and crazy it is in there. They truly are happy to just have free reign to play everything. Honestly won't ever return. Sat at a table for 15 minutes before a server even came by. Once we made eye contact with someone our Server was great...very nice attitude, pleasant and made sure to double check he had our order right. My issue was with the game cards. Consistently unable to scan the cards during games when needed to continue game play. Error message of too many continuous swipes? Really? We were standing at the game and both my boyfriend and I had a card so we were not trying to scam and only use one card. Bathrooms were HORRENDOUS. Filthy...overflowing garbage cans, one paper towel dispenser never had paper (we were there for about 3 hours) and the cans were not emptied. Pure awesomeness! Laser tag, Gravity course (ropes, balance beams, zipline) bowling, billiards, sports screens galore, and to top it off a whole lot of video games. The laser tag course has variable laser guns. The gravity course has a harness to keep the kiddos safe and in case you want, you can join the kids in all these events too. Lots of room to move around. It's new so it gets busy in the afternoon so come in the morning and you'll have a better experience. The afternoon had wait times so make sure to plan ahead. read more

I took my niece and nephew there this week and my experience was very disappointing. The customer service was terrible, when we ate They messed up my order and brought me something I did not order ,then I got my food like 20 min later Every employee looked like they didn't want to be there. In the lazer tag area they don't help with putting the vest on the kids they send u in the game area weather your ready or not my nephews gun didn't work during the game play and they didnt do anything bout it. We were never told that we got time cards only with no tickets going on the cards which we paid 40 bucks for each card. What a rip off! Only an hr of bowling time so have to rush through that They don't explain anything the right way. After our experience we received a call from the GM who listened to our concerns about our night as well as the positives including our assigned hosts. I can't reiterate enough how both hosts were polite and attentive to trying to make sure we had an enjoyable night. We talked about the food and speciality drinks more in-depth and came to an amicable resolution. September 17th was my first visit to Main Event.. the staff at the first desk were very nice and explained how to sign up for games when we wanted to play them. When we did laser tag i was never on a team with any of my friends because the attendant said "teams don't matter" except they do when you want to play a game with the people you've come with on your team.. The attendant also never explained how anything for the game worked so i got a very low score the first few times not knowing for a few rounds that I was supposed to keep both hands on my gun. gravity ropes: it was fun no real complaints, besides when slipped and got stuck on a part that was just ropes and no hard platform so it was hard to get back up and nobody came to offer me any assistance. Thats no big deal though, I was able to eventually get myself up. Besides that I really enjoyed it, and it helped me get over a slight fear of heights I had. After a while we sat down to play pool and grab some drinks. Good thing you have those ziosk tablets because your server hardly ever came over to us. Same goes for the bartender, as I needed to give her my ID to get the balls for pool. When my friend needed a refill the server rudely ignored us and walked right past our table as we were trying to get his attention. Finally, when we wanted to sign up for our last activity of the night nobody was even over at the area for us to sign up. I get it, i don't expect you to stand in one place all day but don't leave the vicinity of that area, or at LEAST ask someone to cover when you need to step away, its not that hard. Undoubtedly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Our group had never been here, so when we walked in we thought the place looked really cool! I'm even planning a big 30th birthday party and thought, oh maybe I should have it here! WRONG!! Every employee that we encountered was so rude, it was truly appalling. They all acted as if they were so unhappy to be working there, and that the customers were just a severe inconvenience. We had to seek them out several times when there was no one to be found. They even left the gravity rope section unattended with the door wide open. We weren't sure if we were supposed to self serve just walk up ourselves..? Such a liability. None of the prices and activity durations were the same as what we were told on the phone. We honestly felt that this business tricks people into coming in and then offers something totally different. Transparency is so important, but this place is deceiving. We wound up leaving after doing just one activity because we felt so very lied to. We all left very angry and upset. Not a good experience. The manager was condescending and argumentative. He could certainly use some lessons in management and customer service. Don't waste your time and money here. From a business owner's perspective, this place needs some serious attention in regards to staffing. If I were the owner of this place I would be incredibly upset that my asset were being represented by such terrible employees. read more

It was also super affordable as my friends and I were able to get the All you can play deal which let you get unlimited activities for just 18.99 if you came before noon. My debit card was stolen from the bartender or coworker who denied even ever taking it for the first order on top of the fact video shows her taking it. After I complained about it and called the police three times the manager asked we leave when we were the victims in this situation they asked 4 innocent families to leave during a birthday party without even an apology. Management is never thought of on a Saturday night... until you experience something like this. When you are driving and approaching this place I have to say that your initial impression will be remarkable. It's the size of a basketball arena that promises fun for the whole family. Think Dave and busters on steroids. But just when you think you're going to have a blast you start to notice little things that really bother you... A lot. For starters, I paid $37 so that I could get a card and play the games. The venue was very impressive but they absolutely are very poorly managed. My group signed up for laser tag and it was a goat rodeo. Nobody knew what team they were going to be assigned to. There was no explanation of how to put on the laser tag jacket and when you went in, so many people were in there that you were being blasted immediately by complete strangers. Thinking that everyone was going to have fun I asked around and discovered that a couple people in my party had lasers that we're not working and their scores showed it. I didn't know what character I was, who was on my team, and it was bad. You'd think that something like laser tag couldn't be screwed up, but they somehow managed to do it. Then, every game that you play is in the range of $1.50 per game to four dollars per game that I saw. Now granted, the four dollar games were an exception but they were still there. Regardless, it was costly. Additionally, I want to play air hockey and there was no puck!!! Granted, they gave me my money back for that but there was no out of order sign and had I not known to go to member services I would have just been out of luck. I'm a 40-year-old man. I can't imagine how many kids have lost money on a game that didn't work. In short, there was a lot that was broken here with the games. Heck, even the front door was broken!!! So after a little while, my friends and I decided to go to the bar portion of the place where we sat there for a good 10 minutes while everybody else was getting served except for us. In short, the bartenders were not only completely slammed, they were all in a bad mood and unorganized! FOUR people who came to the bar AFTER me were attended to before my group was. And among all of this, in the background there was an un-bussed table that sat there for the rest of the evening! It was likely a party of 6 and nobody seemed to care enough to get rid of the food. Look, I had a little fun here but it was alarmingly obvious that the management needs to be fired and replaced. This place is too far gone... and if I was a business owner and saw the quality of service given, I'd set off a five star fire alarm in my mind because if this management continues, that individual is going to lose their shirt. At the end of the day, I walked in thinking this would be the perfect place for my 40th BDay and walked out thinking I was never going to go there again... because looks aren't everything, and the management was that bad. read more

First of all, why the hell am I putting my name on the waitlist to be seated if I'm not going to get service? My friends disabled and had to get up to go to the bar and ask for service which was another mistake because we were ignored by all the bartenders. They finally slapped our pizza onto the table with no napkins or plates (there were 5 of us) and took another half hour for our drinks. Drinks were delivered half drank and with chewed up straws. When offered new ones, we declined because we didn't prefer waiting another hour for them to arrive. By the time we were done at the "diner", it was too late to go on the gravity ropes. I think they just didn't wanna accommodate for my disabled friend. Now let's talk about this lit arcade. I spent half my paycheck buying credits to game here, but got scammed by the machines. When we played last night, 4 guns weren't working. My cousin thought he had one that worked, but it didn't shoot. We told the lady and she spoke to us like we were stupid. Said it should work. We came in for a family gathering. This was not my first time coming here but this is the first time I experienced lackluster service. We sat ourselves at a booth and waited 15 minutes to be served. When the waiter came over, she was very rushy and didn't want to go over any of the menu items with us. It would have been better if we would have reviewed the menu before we left home to prepare for her rushing. Nevertheless, we ordered our food and received it in a timely matter. When we received our food, we did not receive any silverware or napkins. When we attempted to stop the waiter to inform her of this, she walked right past us without acknowledgement. She eventually came back to complete our request but ran off to service another table. I would like to add that it was not overly crowded and her paying our table the required attention it needed was not unreasonable. Main Event as an entertainment center is a great place to enjoy family time with kids. The establishment is clean and I've never had any issues previously. I don't know if the server was having a bad day or what but definitely that should never be taken out on the patrons. Being in the service field is a very hard profession but it is the profession that that particular waiter chose. I will not call her out for her unprofessionalism but if greeted again with the same behavior, I will be forced to involve management for the lack of customer service. read more

This place has real potential. We came for a work outing. Had to seat ourselves and after sitting for 15 minutes went to the bar and asked if someone could come take an order. Then from start to finish it took almost 3 hours to get two rounds of drinks and our entrees. Our bill was incorrect. Thankfully a manager fixed it. We bought the all inclusive wrist bands. Then after we did that went to do the obstacle course and were told it was closed. Went to do laser tag and we were told that we had to wait half an hour because no one was available. Then after saying we've had issues with everything the guy stopped what he was doing and helped us. It would have been nice if things were running smoothly. Went here with 4 preteens on Saturday. Nice place, lots to do for sure. But there were a few things that stood out as not so great. Number one - the women's bathroom. I don't think anyone ever emptied that garbage can! They were overflowing all over the floor with paper towels. I was there for like 4+ hours, and went in the bathroom twice. Same and then worse - you need to have your staff check that. Also, the cost is way out of whack. I can't imagine the amount of money you must take in. For 4 kids, on a Saturday with wristbands and a fun card/ arcade card each ($20 per kid) I spent $164. That's insane! Then, food and drinks on top of it. Come on - $3.25 for a regular soda?!? All in the day cost us over $250. That's a lot of cash! Add to that, the arcade games consistently rip you off by taking points but not starting your game. Happened on 3 different games. Then, you don't get the points added after. That's a whole crazy issue. Not a fan of that. Had to wait in huge line at the "store" area to get the cards/points fixed, so just said forget it. Like 10 people deep. My kids had fun and I'm glad, but that's a ton of money for a so-so experience. read more

I have been to many of main events and by far this is the worst one ever. The management does Absolutely nothing kids running all over bowling lanes while we were bowling. Don't even try to play pool the very rude servers walk right thru you and hit your stock and then give you attitude. The pizza is bad and They ran out of sizes of pizza by 11. I have never had such a bad experience as this they need to fire management and start over. We will never be back to this location again! I told my host at the beginning of my daughters b-day party that any uneaten food was to be taken home with the guest OR if it was completely untouched, I would take it home. Instead, they took the uneaten food that I PAID FOR and started throwing it away right in front of me!!! Why I purposely told them we would do that is because it was done with a friend who had a party at your facility prior!!! Then I had expensive birthday candles that got tossed as well, without even asking if I wanted them back! My property, I paid for. I know your goal is $$$$ and tossing food makes you turn the tables over quicker but it's completely unacceptable for the price I paid! I'm sure Chuck E Cheese wouldn't even do that! To top it off we were the first b-day party of the day and the only b-day party for some time and our food came out late, making the kids go insane and wasting our party time! Also, paying for an additional 30 min points card to play and receiving two sets of cards is super confusing to the kids. If bowling it should not be timed out when you want it to in the middle of a game. Napkins and food should be all ready at one time not given in long spaces. We met our family here. All the kids and adults were really enjoying themselves. Lots and lots of really neat activities to participate in. They have neat restaurants and even a lounge for grown ups to get a good meal and for those who like a alcoholic drink that is also available. I enjoyed a delicious salad, my husband enjoyed sliders sandwiches. This is a great place for everyone of ALL ages ~!! It is centrally located in Hoffman Estates next to Cabela's.
