The George Washington - Beautiful curtains & a creative way to allow for the air to blow through without rolling them up!

Absolutely gross! Where do I start?? The shower fixtures were so rusted that as soon as I ran the…read morewater, it turned orange. I did NOT want to give my 2yr old a bath in that! The room did not come equipped with soap, shampoo, etc. Housekeeping NEVER came to clean until I had to call & request so (we stayed in an extended stay room, so they should have), there was no phone in the room, and the wifi didn't work. Our curtain was a blanket attached to a cafe rod by pins with a square cut out so the AC could blow. My 2yr old even found a huge knife behind the kitchen "curtain"-further proving that it hadn't been cleaned in a while. There were about 10 tiny parking spaces, not nearly wide enough for a bike, so my car got dinged & scratched. And all that I maybe could've dealt with...but believe it or not, it gets worse! An employee named Krista found my husband on Facebook & sent him inappropriate messages, even inviting herself UP TO THE ROOM! I notified 2 different managers (including the GM) immediately & no action was taken. So on top of the terrible conditions, I felt extremely uncomfortable for the remainder of my stay. Because of my husband's work, we needed an extended stay hotel. It's too bad it had to be that one. TJ at the front desk was great & the architecture was beautiful, but that's about it. Do yourself a favor & find ANYWHERE else to stay. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, honestly. P.s. For a good time, ask for "Krista"

My first and second apartments were in this building. In the end, I have to say I had a great…read moreexperience here (this was several years ago now). The security guys were cool, my neighbors were quiet and kept to themselves, and the rent was cheap. I had a great view. They used to have a quick-bite kind of restaurant on the first floor but it was always closing for weeks or months at time, re-opening, closing, etc. Even without though some of the best places to eat in Washington are on Main Street within walking distance of "The George."

I moved to the Residences in August 2018 after I got a professor job at the local college. Single…read moreand in my early 30s, I wanted to live in a location with access to a number of restaurants and bars, but I did not want to drive 40 minutes from Pittsburgh to Washington. The Residences turned out to be the ideal spot. Though I initially balked at the monthly rent, I found it to be well worth the price. (The price point also keeps out the rift-raft, as residents hold down jobs and live stable lives.) With such a new facility, I've never had to call maintenance--though it's my understanding that they tackle any issues that pop up within hours. The outside perks include 5 eateries/bars at The Street (the plaza the building is in), a patio with a grill and propane fire pit, and a sizable parking lot where you'll never have to look for a spot. Inside, I make use of the workout room (2 treadmills, elliptical machine, bike, free weights, yoga mats, etc.) and the Keurig coffee machine in the lobby. I have a one bedroom apartment, which to me has three great features: the walk-in closet, granite counter tops in the kitchen, and the washer/dryer unit in (another) closet. The management is very personable, and they understand that the building is your home. To foster a sense of community, the management team has organized game-watches, a Kentucky Derby party, an end-of-summer event, a Christmas door decorating contest. The weekly donut spread in the lobby on Friday mornings is also popular with residents. I will be moving out-of-state over the summer to for another career opportunity (academia...), but it's safe to say that I will miss living in The Residences. Quite frankly, it's just a really nice place to live.
