as a former employee that saw all the corner cutting and penny pinching that goes on I feel I need…read moreto write this so that customers (current and future) are informed of what they are paying for. it is mandatory that all cleaning employees use ONLY a bucket of hot water with sunlight DISH SOAP to clean and disinfect ALL SURFACE AREAS . from the bathroom to the kitchen to desks and workstations (in that order without changing the water!) the bosses rationale is that if we use different cloths it doesn't matter if the water doesn't get changed. the floor people cut corners to the extent that even if a business is paying for their entire carpets to be cleaned they will only spot clean, but spray all the carpet to make it "smell better even if we don't clean it". The company was paid to clean the carpets at 2 government buildings in campbell river. when I went to do the job with my supervisor we spent about 2 hours on what should've been an 8 hour job because only the traffic areas were cleaned! (my supervisor was concerned because he had another job to be at in the morning and didn't care about the cleanliness of the buildings because "he didn't work there") Many other businesses get the bare minimum treatment, sometimes being skipped altogether ie the real estate kiosk in the comox mall. cleaning apparatus' such as brooms, mops, vacuums, dusters, etc are shared between accounts (one of which being the pollution control (sewage) plant) so a push broom used to sweep up fecal matter can and will be used at any number of businesses including banks and stores without the brush or mop head being changed! toilets are often skipped if they look unused, I've seen employees use bathroom facilities and not clean it afterwards. It is also a regular occurrence to see employees take candy from private drawers and containers in people's offices. The owner of the company is also involved in several lawsuits involving wrongful dismissal, negligence and refusing to pay wages. customers and potential employees beware!
