The adult paperbacks are £2.99 each and 2 for five pounds and I can always find something I want to buy. They have lots of non fiction books too including a small section on the local area. However this wonderful shop has one massive flaw. The lady who works in there seems to absolutely HATE people, not just children, but all customers. She takes it as a personal insult if you want to buy something, and in the event you want to use a debit card its as though you've slapped her. I'm not sure what the refund policy of this store is, because I would never dare to take something back. I am a friendly person and normally chat to shop assistants, but have never even had a thank you from this lady, let alone a smile. Its such a shame as its a gorgeous shop.

Iv lost count the amount of times Iv stood in a very long que just to buy a paper and there is one person at the tills with at least three others who can see its busy but are aimlessly pretending to tidy shelves or restocking. I thought the customer was supposed to come first, they seem to have their prioroties all wrong. My second bugbear is that I can never get my pushchair round the isles without banging into a display stand. Iv not got a very big pushchair either so im surprised they dont get more complaints, as the isles are very narrow. Lastly, why oh why put all thing kids related on the upper floor? Rant over, I would avoid this shop and go to Woolys instead given the choice!

Despite a plethora of 1-star reviews of Blackwell's online ordering service, the in-store experience is sheer delight. The selection (on multiple stories of the building) is simply stunning. Not wanting to come back home with a suitcase full of books (well, wanting to but loathe to carry them), my purchase here was a single book which I read in its entirety before leaving the UK. Bookstores which began their lives in the 1800's are rare finds. Blackwell's is one and they haven't endured due to mere good luck. Someone is paying attention to the look and feel of the place as well as the vast and deep selection of great reads. Blackwell's is a great place to get lost in.

I really like this book store. It has quite an old fashioned look to it which I like and has a…read morelovely children's section. There is also a table and chairs provided for children so they can sit and look through books opposite a fish tank so it all feels very welcoming to the children. I also like the fact that everything is on one level so there is no trapsing up and down the stairs! I always shop here when I need a book.
