This restaurant received my Indian friends' seal of approval for delicious and authentic Indian…read morecuisine. I thought all of the dishes we ordered tasted excellent. Some of the dishes are very spicy, especially the Indo-Chinese noodles. My friends are vegetarian so I agreed to order only vegetarian dishes to share with them. Even though I'm a carnivore I didn't miss having meat at all because the dishes were so delicious and savory. Service and atmosphere were good including a television playing Bollywood music videos. I would eat here again on my next trip to Sydney, and my Indian friends are already planning to return to this restaurant very soon since they live close by.

Their television set continuously play Indian pop music videos at a volume which isn't intrusive, but did make me look up at several points throughout the night to see what as happening. The staff are really nice and the service was excellent. At this point I should point out that it was only us in the restaurant for most of the time. The wait for the food was minimal. Our entree, the Nepalese chicken Momo, were borderline warm. Probably didn't help that the serving sauce was chilled, but still enjoyable. Our mains were exquisite. The Kodi kurra (hot) delivered on spice and flavour, and with large slices of green chilli peppers mixed in I'm not surprised. The Dum Ka Murgh (med) was also on point, silky smooth taste with every subtle ingredient complementing the next. The meal was elegant. I also got to try imported Indian beer for the first time, interesting honey notes that go down easily. We will be visiting again.

Ordered a large take away for Saturday lunch with the family. The woman who served us was polite…read moreand helpful. We ordered a butter chicken, goat darbar, black lentil dal makhani, two lots of tandoori chicken, a few garlic naan and a few servings of rice. It was a good sized order and we were happy to wait and watch cars motor along The Crescent. After about twenty minutes we received our order and took it back home. For the most part it was very enjoyable, the goat darbar being the clear winner. The butter chicken had a rich tomato base which was a nice change to others I've had which lean more on the cream. The black lentil dal makhani was another fine example of high quality spices in a smooth and satisfying sauce. Unfortunately things went terribly with the tandoori chicken. It was when we started eating it that I discovered that my piece of chicken wasn't cooked inside. Stone cold raw. You don't need to be a health inspector to know about the risks of becoming sick from raw chicken. It's very serious indeed. Food poisoning is no joke, with salmonella and campylobacter being to two most prevalent pathogens found in raw chicken. Others members of my family who ate the tandoori chicken noticed the texture was "squishy". Even if their pieces had been properly cooked the risk of the raw piece cross contaminating the others in the same container is very likely. Needless to say I lost my appetite after that. The next day I took the raw chicken back to the restaurant and told the staff member (a different woman this time) that I'd been served raw chicken, I'd eaten raw chicken along with two others, both seniors and one with a compromised immune system. She didn't seem at all concerned. I was flat out refused a refund for being served RAW CHICKEN. As we kept discussing the situation it seemed as if she was almost becoming irritated by my complaint. After some back and forth my name and mobile number was written down and I was told that the next time I ordered anything I could claim the $18 off my next bill. Not sure when I'll be returning to a restaurant that appears so nonchalant about such a serious health breach. Plus I'm not exactly that eager to return the raw chicken Indian Restaurant. Since eating the chicken my stomach feels like it's filled with stones and angry bubbles. I've been surviving on Double Strength Buscopan and haven't moved any further than ten metres away from a toilet.

My experience in chronological order:…read more Very dirty unmaintained toilets, no toilet paper, semi-dirty cups, cutlery, and plates. However resturaunt looked well maintained; the kitchen, from what I could see, was pretty dirty, with stuff on the floor and unorganized general mess. There looked to be a birthday party down the end of the restaurant that had finished, but not been cleaned up, no one used that area for that reason. Good service, complimentary pumpadums, $10 soft drink jug was smaller than other places in the area. Food was pretty good though, just made up for the bad points. I've had better Indian, but not at this price :P I would recommend this place for the price to food quality ratio :) Another plus for good service, the waitress was very nice...

The Goan fish curry and Patiala goat curry (spicy) from the mains were both delicious, and the Kari Kozhambu from the specials was also brilliant. The Hariyali chops were my favourites from the mains in terms of flavour, but the chops had a bit too much fat on them for my liking. Service is AMAZING. The staff are always on their feet and on the two occasions we visited, we were never left waiting to order or ask for additional drinks. They even gave us coffee after they had already cleaned the coffee machine and were getting ready to close up. I think some may feel that the food is a bit pricy, but I would have to disagree. While it is expensive compared to most other Indian restaurants, I believe the food is priced fairly (taking into account the quality of the food and service, and menu originality). We are far too accustomed to seeing Asian cuisines as being "cheap and quick". Abhi's is definitely worth the visit, you are guaranteed to find dishes you've never eaten before.

I would book in for earlier than 8pm, because they CLOSE at 10... this is the suburbs, after all. DO NOT go passed the crab cakes or the butter chicken. It was the best butter chicken I ever had in my life. The service was just so-so... a bit strange. But... yes, will definitely be coming back.
