The Naan is hard, dry, lifeless, flat & thin. Rice feels plasticky. The mango veg dish Portion was meagre and I don't even want to talk about the rest of the main dish. If you are not here because of the location they enjoy for a night out for drinks, then save your stomach for a proper meal elsewhere. I mean the owner seems nice & friendly but please never forget this is a restaurant not a canteen. We paid restaurant price for what we normally eat in a hurry at an Asian canteen.

It's been around for a few years and in talking to the waiter, found out, that the chefs here are from Punjab and, they specialize in North Indian and Pakistani style cooking. The menu here is extensive and, has some very nice regional dishes, not commonly found in the menus, around Munich. There were dishes like Moglai Biriyanis, Baingan Bharta, Mutter Paneer and many others. I could have ordered the whole menu here as, many of the dishes reminded me of the types of dishes, you got served in good Mumbai restaurants. Although my friends have been here a few times, they asked me to pick and, I choses dishes they have never tried before. I also asked for one of the dishes proper spicy as a surprise ;-)) As we were sharing it was a chance to try a few things. We ordered a hariyali tikka (one of my favourites and not often found in menus) and it was delicious. Fresh green herbs and tender chicken breast cooked in a tandoor oven. The lamb Boti masala was the dish I ordered extra hot and, it was delicious tender spicy lamb and, we all loved it. The mix vegetable curry was also nice and Moglai Biriyani was just perfect with the meal. We tried the Gulab jamun and kulfi for dessert and it was ok. The kulfi was odd and tasted like eating raw dough. This was a disappointment. The staff were friendly but after an ok start the service got slower. The place was full but, there were plenty of staff around yet, I had to constantly look for a waiter when we wanted something. I would come back here without a doubt, for their great savoury dishes. It's obviously very popular with the locals and, it was packed when I arrived. The place seats well over 50 people so it's not small. A great choice for a curry in the area with very authentic regional dishes. That alone will bring me back :-))

Also have learned to cook Indian food (buying many books and experimenting). My wife and I always search for the best Indian in the city when we travel, and when we came back to Ganga, our minds were blown... again. First of all, we are Vegan and were Vegetarian when we first found out about Ganga, so our experiences are without any meat dishes. We tend to notice subtleties in our food as we are both cook ourselves and can pick apart flavors to recreate dishes. Ganga has again come through with some amazing dishes. The thing that sets Ganga apart from other Indian restaurants is that the food just tastes fresh. You can discern individual ingredients in the food. The colors are bright and the curry dishes aren't over cooked. The curry base isn't thick and bland like it is at other restaurants. Each dish has a UNIQUE flavor, instead of everything tasting similar. The spices are strong and fresh as well. We never leave the place without being absolutely stuffed and happy, that's for sure. As everyone should know, in München, every restaurant is proud of the beer they serve and have logos on the outside just to tell you what they serve. Ganga serves something you don't see too often in Munich, but it is a Bavarian beer, Kulmbacher. Out favorite by far is the Kapuziner Weißbier, and the Kapuziner Weißbier Dunkel. Such smooth, flavorful beers. Nothing is quite like it at all, very, very good. Lastly, the service, is very good. The staff is very friendly and it feels like a family owned operation. At least I know that two of the wait staff are brother and sister. They work quite hard, even when the place is so busy you can't find a seat. They have always been pleasant to us and they speak English well. Or they will even help us practice our German. All in all however, this restaurant is a gem. I feel very lucky to have found it in our travels and will be back every time I am in München.

The main courses were quite good and I loved the Daal. None of it was spicy however, quite flavourful and, I quite enjoyed it. The roti (called chapati here) was excellent and, it was light and freshly made, and I loved it. For dessert we shared a platter and it was not so good. The Gulab Jamun was great and adding mango was a nice touch but, the ice cream was a bit ordinary. All in all a pleasant experience that I would happily repeat. My stable of good Indian places in Munich continues to grow and, I am glad we tried this place :-)) I would stick to the main course next time and not bother with the rest.
