Sweet Torino hospitality to the max. Deliciousness in a fun, affectionate, and professional environment
A few weeks ago I made plans to visit Italy to try three restaurants. One turned out a total fiasco ((La Madernessa; Check out my review if you are curious) ; the other two so good made me forget all the pain of La Madernassa.
This was my second time at Magrobian. I know the chef through mutual friends and via FaceBook and food blogs but i had never met him in person. Marcello was kind enough to come back from a trip to meet me. We talked a good while at his bar/lounge next door and then i was welcome to their restaurant. Saturday night, packed restaurant. Me, alone and they had a lovely table, with arguably the best seat in the restaurant for me!
Personally i think they lost money on giving me a table. I drink very little and they could have easily had more people at that table. Many higher end US restaurants now require advanced payment for tables, requiring even number of guests).
I felt the servers all knew (of) me already. Everyone was attentive, and friendly, yet maintained a healthy distance and professionalism. There was a certain air of casualness, not taking oneself too seriously. Each dish was delicious, beautifully thought out, and wonderfully executed. They all stood on their own. I loved them all and look forward to taking my family to Magrobian next time. I took lots of pictures of each dish, with iPhone and a Leica Q2. But at the end, i just post one picture here that touched me much - the welcome feeling they gave me with my special seat. read more
