I made an appointment and asked for highlights and a haircut. Got that and a hair cut. with added gloss, total cost came to a whopping $185.00. When I asked why? I wasn't given a breakdown of costs, only that my hair was longer? Barbara was attentive and listened to what I wanted. She did a great job on my hair and is a very pleasant woman with a sunny personality. I think that once the hair was complete and finished the owner could have come over and checked it out and given Barbara "Hey! Good job Barbara, very nice haircut". That would have made Barbara's day! and mine. When I asked Barbara why the cost was so high She was unable to break down the costs but was advised by Terry it will cost $185.00. With CoVid I have not been to the hairdresser in over 2 years. I guess this was a gift to myself but would have preferred to be prepared for the costs of services at the onset...such as this haircut will cost $100 and the highlights will cost 85.00. Their webpage doesn't state that the price based on length of the hair will go up by $20.00 if you don't have a pixie to begin with?? and Why $20., why not $10.00? Although I was charmed by Barb, I was disappointed by the cost factor for a senior on old age pension. No I was not pleased, money grab!!

They put the least experienced stylist on the groom and it took her an hour and a half to do a man bun!!! I have no idea what I'm doing with hair but I can do one in 30 seconds and not to mention it was the worst man bun I have ever seen, it was a ponytail folded once.....if you are going to call yourself a hairstylist and can't do a man bun I think you are in the wrong business. And due to how clueless they were it made my groom late, he had no time to change or shave or anything. When I called the girl who answered to phone eventually admitted to being the one that was responsible for my now husbands awful experience. She says, "I have never had to do a man bun with long hair before." WHAT!?!? When else would you have to do a fricken manbun in short hair!?!? And then she said she would have to manager call me...NOPE cause the day she said he would, they're closed. So either she lied or she doesn't even know her workplace hours. Finally got in touch with the manager, and we'll nice piece of work there, considering your business is all skill and customer service, he had terrible service skills and was not understanding of what his choice of stylist was responsible for ruining all my ceremony photos and charged him for the worst hair ever. His solution wasn't a sorry or I will re-evaluate my staff or a refund for the embarrassment of there work. No it's excuses and I may talk her about it. Go screw yourself. If you want a good job done I would go here, considering a man bun is difficult, one would assume that a cut and or a color would be far beyond their skill level.

She can always get it to the level it needs to be, the thinnest I need it to be manageable for me to live with and work with. I waited to do this review because I was so upset and wanted to give myself time to resolve things in my head or otherwise. Then I forgot. After a year and more, here's my review. And I am still Not Happy. I tried sugaring for the first time and it was a Brazilian. It was fine. I didn't like the dinginess of the table & towels but just asked if everything is washed between customers. She said everything is very clean. So I thought about how starting up a waxing business or sugaring might mean using older towels used for hair dying. Whatever. I saw her again. Same person - Jolene. She ripped my flesh during my second ever Brazilian. In fact she appeared to be really shocked and upset. Ok, well at that point the pain hadn't started for me and I said "it's ok".. It did hurt pretty quick upon moving a bit later, though. She continued to apologize with a pale face and shock in her expression. She said at least 3 times "Ive never had that happen before". SHE CHARGED ME ANYWAY! I was still not understanding just how seriously I was injured until I got home and looked in the mirror. She had been able to see because she had a bird's eye view when it happened. It was serious enough I thought about whether I should go to a walk in clinic. However, since Im a nurse I did think that there is no way stitches would be useful, but it had to just heal because it was layers of membrane missing (not skin). If someone ripped off a couple layers of skin, it creates a big scab and the skin grows and heals underneath. Guess what? You don't grow a scab "down there". You just hurt like hell for two weeks and ache for a whole month, and you can't have sex with your NEW HUSBAND or enjoy the new bed you just bought. If that is too much information, well, think twice before letting Jolene do your hair removal. I warned you. Three people since then at two places both at Tiber River (who did great) and a sugaring specialty place in Kansas City (the area where I am from in the States & where I went to finally try it again after the big disaster with Jolene). All said they have never seen anyone rip with sugaring. And if it DID happen, why would the customer be charged? It's just bad business. You don't even have a real room to undress in and be worked on at Christina Norris. You are behind dark room dividers in the same room people are getting their hair cut. Get sugared at Tiber River. Very professional, super clean, clean, clean, and you have a real room and place to lie down that is clean for sure, and great products are used. I'm sure some other places are good, too. But I love Tiber River. Christina Norris as a salon - I got an ok cut there on my very first visit and it was Jolene. The vibes there just seem off. It's close to my house so that's the only reason I tried it. I have a stylist now at Edward Carrier. The guy is fabulous. It's well lit thand sunny, lots of positivity from the owner and stylists. Pricy possibly, depending on who you go to, but my step-daughter had her first "wow" hair experience there & bought me a haircut for my birthday, it was so good for her. Very profession feel there. I've been to several salons & stylists rated the "Best Of" in Dallas & Kansas City, and the stylists at Edward Carrier & The Hive are as good. The Hive did some really detailed cuts for my SIL and me. More alternative than I really want to go but I loved what two stylists there did for me. Precision cuts. Very well executed.

She was busy and one of her friend asked me at 6:40 to get me ready. After she washed my hair she started right away my cut. it took overall 15 minutes and then she took a mirror showed the back of my head in mirror when it was soaking wet. I told her I can't see the cut if it wont dry. and she answered "you should pay additional 5 dollar to style it". I answered ok I'll pay with my confused face of her rudeness. Then she respond I have another customer and you need to wait. The other customer who Desiree was busy with started apologizing and another stylist came to me and started to have a conversation and tried to finish their job. I was so angry that I couldn't hear anything they were saying and tried hard to stay calm. She came back after another 15 minutes and started to iron my wet (she called it styling) hair. she asked me where I am from? I answered Vancouver. She asked Where are you from originally? I answered Iran. She asked without hesitation how long ago did you come from Iraq. I responded 15 years ago I cam from Iran not Iraq. And that was the end of our conversation. At this point I just wanted to get out of that damn chair. I didn't tel her anything and left without paying any extra tip. I usually tip generously. I felt awful in my way back for not saying I am more Canadian than you if the measure of being Canadian was based on serving Canada and accomplishment not the color of skin.
