I can't say I wasn't warned. Reviews of Shannon's approach with comments like "she hit my dog with a stick", "made my daughter cry", plus one of my wife's patients showing her a video of her smacking his dog on the snout didn't stop me from giving it a try. After all, my dog is a Border Collie and herds kids, the neighbors Yorkies etc. It started out fine and my dog was doing it. Then, my dog turned the other directions and she hit my dog on the snout with her whippy stick. Then my dog just wanted out.
Shannon had me come in, but the poor thing just wanted out. clawing at me to get out. I will try to defender Shannon's little dictatorship world, (she's the boss. My way of the highway approach. You know the type.) She's trying to protect her sheep, and there was a German Shepard earlier that looked like she would tear into one, and the poor sheep ran into the fence hard to get away. She has her methods and I understand her wanting to protect the sheep. My poor dog wouldn't hurt a fly, but Shannon doesn't know that. Bottom line is if you think you want to do this and chance it is going very poorly, go for it. I think my dog will get over it faily quickly, not so much for me. I feel like a horrible parent/pet owner.
PS: This is the only reveiw I've ever written. I'm doing it as a public service and hopefully a cathartic exercise for me. read more
