My fiancé wishes they had a Dolby theater for better sound quality. Overall, it made for a great Friday date night experience for us and many many other people flooding in.

I will however say, back in 2006 when I was working here, the chairs are THE SAME ((fabric and all)) and now, they are covered with filth such as soda, food... and who knows what else. I threw my clothing away after my final try with the theater unfortunately. I was hoping with what money they get, they would keep the theater clean. That was my job, I cleaned and made sure there was no trash, spills or anything that was disgusting. I wish I could write good things, like how much the DDR games brought in EVERYDAY. I remember having to empty it at least 3 times during my 7 hour shift. But they got tired of people going in to just play the games, so they got rid of them. How does that make sense?? But no, I will drive to Oxnard despite it being a long drive and costing extra money. :/ I know they could do better but sadly, they aren't and it seems like they won't change it. It's laid out with dirt mounds so you can pull up on the mound & have the hood raised up a bit to see over cars in front of you. We went for the 9:30 showing - it was dark. They have trash cans placed between parking spaces so you can easily dispose of your trash afterwards. We walked over to the snack bar to get some mouth watering treats and left super psyched with their popcorn. It was fresh, hot and delicious. Yum! The movie, Venom, was awesome & the whole experience was fun. A lot of people had air mattresses in the back of their pickups or brought out folding chairs to enjoy the flick. If you've never been to a drive in movie theater I really recommend it. It's campy & a throwback experience.

Unfortunately, as the lights dimmed and the excitement was about to begin...the theater suddenly went dark and the emergency lights kicked on. The staff immediately reassured us that we were safe and that there was a power interruption and that things would be running shortly. Sadly, minutes ticked by and the staff came back to let us know the outage was affecting a large part of the area and offered vouchers. I was in a pickle. I purchased my tickets through Fandango, we were leaving town the next day and their site refuses refunds or credits after the movie start time...no exceptions (I should review them...boooo). We hung back for a few minutes while the staff dealt with safely walking all the customers out and I spoke with Elias who is the GM. He was extremely polite and apologetic. He too understood that working with Fandango was problematic and he offered to take my information and see if he, or the corporate office of the theater, could help. I left my information with hope, but no great expectations. Well today I got my socks blown off! I received an email from Elias and he is working with Fandango. He just needs my confirmation information from them to try and facilitate a refund. At this point, the ball is in Fandango's court! I am so impressed with Elias and the staff of Metro 4 Theatre in Santa Barbara. In this age of digital processing and service by text it was so refreshing to deal with a professional who cared about the company, the job and the customer. Speaking to someone who was willing to go the extra mile was such a wonderful experience. I am so thankful to Elias and his team and would recommend this little theater to anyone in the area. We brought two of our folding cars and foldable table that we used for our snacks and drinks. We also brought an older FM radio that we had so that we didn't have to use the cars. Everything looks clean and care seems to be put into the decorations and posters. All the workers I interacted with were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Sophia, at the box office, was genuinely happy to share her thoughts on the movies with me and answered all my questions. The theatres themselves are a bit old and outdated but its the experience here that really makes it for me. They also have DIY butter stand now too!! That's always a game changer for me. I saw Love Hurts and while the movie did not live up to my expectations, the theatre completely surpassed them - so it all worked out in the end! I definitely will be coming back here for my next bargain Tuesday.
