The staff is exceptionally kind to children and are helpful in answering questions. There's about a one week lag time between making a creation and having it ready for pickup. I always receive a personalized email about my shipment and when it arrives it's not just in a mailing pouch, but lovingly wrapped in colorful tissue paper tied with a colorful ribbon, a needle inventory guide and some other trinket. Today we received a mini 2014 calendar which is going to come in handy! Additionally, I always enjoy the hand-written note and thank you I receive from the store owner Nancy. If I lived in the area I'd be haunting and buying from her shop relentlessly. Yarns & Threads is the one place I can find Bryspun Pearl knitting needles. Not only does Nancy stock what I need their prices are supremely fair and shipping is wonderfully fair and reasonable as well. Should I ever get to Michigan I will certainly be visiting in person. While on vacation, I seek out independently owned small businesses to make my purchases. On this…read moretrip, I intending to buy fabrics and chose Portage Quilt House. The store certainly had a wonderful selection of Michigan Technological University quilt fabric, and so much more. I took my time and looked forward to an hour of relaxing and picking out fabric. The joy of being in that store came to a screeching halt. The employees began a negative conversation about women, then progressed to speaking about women of color. Needless to say, if you care about where you spend your money, take a pass on this store.
