Over 200 beers from over 70 breweries...and you've got four hours. Held at the historic Sloss Furnaces, you're guaranteed a cool backdrop. As you walk in, you're handed a small glass with a cool MCBF logo on the side. At first it seems almost too small. You quickly realize that it will do the trick as you get to sample some of the best beers around. Bottled water is free and you never have to wait long for a sample. Plus, your entry fee goes to support the uber cool 'Free The Hops'.

    Very beautiful at night

This has to be one of Birmingham's best festivals...we have several, but this is one of my favs! Tickets seems to go up in price each year, but if you're worried about getting your monies worth, worry no more. It's worth it! Huge selection and something for everybody. You get a souvenir glass (try not to drop it, although you can replace it free if so). Each vendor fills your glass with 2oz for your drinking pleasure. You have plenty of time to indulge (or over indulge for some..tisk, tisk). Food options are available, one dollar equals one token. Cards/cash are excepted at the token table...no cash exchanges are excepted at food vendors...only tokens. Good things: DD tickets are sold for non-drinking friends to enjoy, yellow cabs are basking at the opportunity to safely drive you home. Be smart and take a cab if you've had too much! Oh and thanks to Piggly Wiggly for the FREE water. I greatly appreciate it. Not so good things: damn porter potty. Yuck! Lastly, pretzel necklaces are VERY popular at this event. Stop by the yelp table (2015) and check-in to MAKE a free necklace. Happy(safe) SIPS!

    Working those pretzel necklaces!

Beautiful weather, tons of craft beer to taste, awesome food trucks, and great music. That should be all I need to say to justify a five star review. When we got there a little early to set up a booth, we realized they were already letting people in. As it turns out, they went ahead and checked tickets and let people inside the gate. But they were still holding people away from the beer until start time with caution tape. A smart move on their part. The selection of beer seems endless. There are great beers from all over the country represented. You are given a small sample glass when you walk through the gate. There is water at each station where you wash your glass in between tastes. At first, I thought the sample was just a little too small. But when I saw how it affected people just a couple of hours in, I was glad they were small. So it didn't get out of hand. Friday night is definitely the party crowd that comes out to "pre-game". It gets a little rowdy by the end. And the little sample glasses are getting dropped all over the place. If you are looking for some relaxed beer tasting with a level headed crowd, Saturday is probably your day to come out. Just like with every festival, the food is a little pricey. You have to buy food tokens ($1 per token) in order to buy food. But the bottled water is free, so that definitely helps. Parking is $5 when you get there. Well worth it rather than finding a place to park and walk who knows how far. The parking process is pretty easy getting there. But the egress plan really needs some work. There is no organization on getting the various "roads" around the parking area cleared out in a orderly fashion. We sat for at least 20 minutes in the same spot before even moving an inch towards the exit. But overall a great experience. I will be going back for years to come.

Brewfest is one of those key Birmingham events I recommend attending on a 1- to 2-yr basis. Again, having full 2-day access as a Yelp Elite is hard to beat! Working an hour at the Yelp tent for 2 days' admission is a great deal, so I recommend if you're not Elite yet to get to work!

On the banks of Buck Creek, just below the dam, the site together with the stage provides a wonderful venue for people of all ages to enjoy crafts, children's activities, food, and music. There is a large playground on site and in addition to the playground was a large children's play area with slides and bounce houses and rides with unlimited access for a mere $5.00. My family and I just enjoyed the 15th annual event last weekend. This year could have been the largest crowd to date. The Helena Amphitheatre venue is unique small venue along buck creek with walking paths and ample tree cover providing shade. Established in 1999, the Helena Amphitheater Park is located at Helena's Old Town district. It is an outdoor concert hall, festival grounds, movie theater and nature park. In the spring, summer and fall it is host to many events. Aside from the music and fun, the Buck Creek Festival has become known for its charity efforts that include the star of the event: the rubber duck race. The race is held at 3 p.m. on Saturday along the banks of Buck Creek. The duck race in previous years has benefited SafeHouse of Shelby County, local schools, band boosters, the library and more. Be aware there are a few rules. Park Rules *No Dogs *No Coolers *No Alcohol *No Golf Carts or Bicycles The weather couldn't have been better, the tree cover and lack of asphalt provide comfort with temperatures in the 80s. Live music from talented artists can be heard throughout the park, children were running around playing, my wife shopped in vendor tents housing varied merchants ranging from artists, boutique owners to local stores and shops in Helena and many more. It reminds me of small intimate city stages the way it was designed to be. I even found a couple that make and sell Biltong and it was awesome! I would very highly recommend this event to anyone who enjoys being outside and live music. It's not often you find an event that is really enjoyable for the entire family.
