I haven't been to many restaurants with this type of food in Warsaw but this one is by far my favorite. The cuisine is authentic and I sincerely enjoyed my visit. For starters, it's not an entirely easy restaurant to find which ensures that there are very few "random" guests. The restaurant itself is small, with about 8 tables, most of which don't seat more than four people. It's located on the other side of the street from Arkadia and while there are several other well-known restaurants right next door, we have to go through a scary-looking area of old abandoned warehouses in order to find Maghreb. But trust me, it's totally worth it. We came here a couple of minutes past noon and were the only guests for about an hour. The waitress was very helpful and attentative. We decided to order two starters - natural-flavored hummus and merguez sausages - and my lunch companion decided to order their couscous royal as well. The hummus was nearly perfect - a bit grainy, just like I like it. The merguez sausages were really, really good too. The hummus was served with a really good, think bread while the sausages were served with a mild chili/mayo sauce. The couscous was impressive to say the least and the portion was large enough to feed two hungry people. Since I had filled my food quota after the hummus and the merguez, we asked for the rest of the couscous in a doggy bag (for the additional cost of 1 pln for the container) Generally, I'm really glad we finally made it out here and I'm pretty sure we'll be coming back for more. Maghreb is perfect in every way. Tucked away in a hidden alley, the adventure seems to begin long before you're even seated in the restaurant. I want so badly to keep this place a secret, but as I'm not a full-time resident of Warsaw (yet), I cannot rely on my efforts alone to keep this place in business. This restaurant boasts no more than 15 seats and a tiny seasonal patio for smoking hookah. It is intimate defined. The menu, composed of the most flavorful Moroccan dishes, carries you along your adventure with ease. There is so much love in the food, and it's rare for me to say that. That's the beauty of Maghreb- you feel as if you are in someone's home, being hosted in the best way. I won't belabor my point much longer- and trust me, I could- but the Grey wine, as it's called, is amazing. A beautiful rusted copper color, it is acidic & dry, like a rosé but marvelously new.
