I was at awe with how beautiful everything was and spotless too. There is also a Tim Horton's located on the second floor. The security team there is also very professional. OK, The Peace Bridge originally opened in 2012, it is an iconic landmark for attracting approximately 9000 visitors per day in the summer months who walk & wheel over the bridge. This pedestrian bridge is red & we can reach it on the red line. In 2022, 70 of the 100 glass railing panels were vandalized & since that time, steady progress has been made to evaluate a repair solution that maintains the original design of the bridge. It's cost over a million dollars and entails materials less susceptible to vandalism and that are easier to maintain over time.

Currently it is used as the office of the mayor & alderman, it is the architectural focal point of the City Hall complex that consists of 2 later additions. It was built in 1911 with a 4 story extension in 1962. The Municipal Building was added in 1985 and is a massive wedge-shaped, mirrored-glass structure. Its located on the eastern edge of the Central Business District, across from Olympic Plaza & the Stephen Avenue pedestrian Mall, forming the civic focal point of the city. In 1984, Calgary City Hall was designated a national historic site because it is the only surviving regional example of the monumental civic halls erected in several Prairie cities before 1930; and its lofty clock tower, prominent round-arched entry and extensive decoration in the Romanesque Revival style made it an imposing visual symbol of community progress.

This walk is where we found Calgary's finest restaurants, pubs, bars & cafes. This pedestrian mall offers us walking access to downtown Calgary's main attractions, including Banker's Hall, the CORE Shopping Centre, the Telus Convention Centre, the Glenbow Museum, Arts Commons & Olympic Plaza. There are several Canadian curio stores here. During the Stampede the Avenue is filled with outdoor patios, magnificent hanging flower baskets, live music, performers, festivals, food trucks & vendors. We enjoyed our pancake breakfast here and also watching the Clydesdales fill the Avenue.
