Common gifts and souvenirs (refrigerator magnets, keychains, and t-shirts) are fine sometimes. But…read morefor my friends, I like to return from trips with things that are a bit more thoughtful. La Botiga de La Seu is my favorite of the gift shops located along the plaza. In addition to the more common souvenirs, this particular store sells very pretty brooches, hairpins, and scarves. As a Valencia CF fan, I was giddy to see that there are very subtle hairpins with the club's insignia sold here as well (who would have thought?). Prices are also very reasonable for the quality of the items sold (i.e., fans are actually functional).
Do be careful if you look like an out-of-towner though. I suppose that a blonde girl wearing Reebok Pumps in a fashionable Mediterranean city was enough to make a shopkeeper attempt to give me incorrect change. (I should have received 12 euro back and only received 5.) I brought this to the shopkeeper's attention and she apologized profusely. I'd like to think it was an accident.
La Botiga de la Seu remains my favorite store for bringing a bit of Valencia home to my friends.
