    Open all year!

Since I was in the neighborhood, I gave this market a call to make sure they're still around. Yes, ma'am. It's more of a farmer's stand, but on the bigger side. Yes, they are even open during the winter months. The veggies and fruits were making my mouth water. Got me some pretty ripe peaches. The Roma tomatoes were bright read and perfect to the touch! The mini pickling cucumbers were to cute, couldn't pass up a few. Ron is such a sweetheart!! Mae, owner extraordinaire, just happened to be away when I stopped, but I was assured by Ron that she's a wonderful woman who's all about community and a positive breathe of fresh air! Great year-round local market for the south side.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome. They even have food trucks, drink stands and today they had entertainment. Some stands are a second store front for a bigger businesses and some are folks that run a smaller business in markets like this. It's all good. There's quite the variety. We had fantastic weather on our only chance to experience this treasure. As you might expect, we drank too much, ate too much and spent far too much on the local crafts. You only live once. Parking sucked. We had to walk a couple blocks. It was a decent area making for a nice stroll. Everyone involved showed us so much heartfelt hospitality and good will. We talked to so many locals and learned so much about the area and the town's history, it was a total shock that we'd spent 4 hours here. 10/24

This market gets very busy quickly and the space it takes place in is pretty small. Parking is tight in this area, so you may have to walk a bit. Satellite operations now actually exist in several leather parts of the city, but the concept is the same. On site flat lot parking is available as well as street parking, and parking in a number of garages nearby. We happened to walk over from a few blocks away, but there was snow and ice on every sidewalk - it sucked to get there tbh. Can't do anything about the massive building being build practically on top of this historic building, but that's Columbus for you. So if you don't mind walking a bit in potentially garbage weather with untended sidewalks, it's super fun to visit. Jeni's is always a treat for dessert, but so is Buckeye Donuts. The Crepes menu sounds amazing, too. We tried Satori ramen bar and it was hot and flavorful! The bakery next to Satori on the corner has amazing baked goods, too.

This market takes place from 9 - 1 pm on the first and third Saturday of the month, from June to October. They have just about everything you'd get from the larger markets, but at a smaller scale. There are multiple produce vendors, several of which are truly urban farmers as they grow their items right down the street from the market; can you get any more fresh than that? Highland Youth Garden is usually here, so you can get fresh veggies from smiling children who are growing and learning about the plants, then taking them to market to sell. We have a local coffee roaster, several amazing jam-makers, local honey, mushrooms, and a fantastic meat/egg vendor as well. The Veggie SNAP program is offered here, so if you bring your SNAP card, you can receive DOUBLE the amount of funds toward purchasing fresh produce. They also take credit cards, so if you're strapped for cash you can exchange credit for tokens. The first market of the month typically has cooking demonstrations from Local Matters, so you can learn how to cook with the seasonal produce you're buying! Lots of available parking on the street or in a church lot across W. Broad St. This market may be small, but it is mighty. Come out and see what makes this area of town so special; affordable prices, easily accessible, and really friendly people!

It's way out there, and there's not much signage, so keep your eyes peeled for the market. Check in there and get your baskets weighed (bring your own, or pay 25 cents apiece for plastic bags.) Then drive out to the field, way in the back. Plenty of good berries on Memorial Day weekend, and in maybe half an hour we got 4 pounds. Take them back to get weighed, and pay $2/pound. Or, you know, $5/quart for pre-picked... Baby K was able to pick some, Dada's knees and back held up for most of the time, and we didn't collapse from heat exhaustion. They only have a few other things in the farm market in the spring: jam, noodles, cold drinks. I assume there is a lot more in late summer. We had a good time, got lots of berries for not much money, and have plenty to eat and cook with till ours come in.
