An interesting Italian restaurant with good food and a building which is made almost completely out…read moreof glass (gifting all patrons with a fantastic view of Mumbles Bay), it's therefore hardly surprising that Verdi's is so popular! Despite there always being a hub of activity going on at this establishment (due to the fact it's always packed), you just can't help feeling chilled out (maybe it's being so close to the sea?). They offer plenty of free newspapers and magazines for you to peruse over whilst waiting for your food, additionally you're made to feel welcome whether you're just having a coffee, ice cream or full blown meal. The food available is generally light (I'd definitely consider this place to be more of a café than a restaurant). The menu offers pizza, small pasta dishes, salads and a variety of Panini's, sandwiches and baguettes (which come with salad and crisps), all of which taste good and are well presented. It is the deserts however which are simply to die for! Sure the ice creams nice, but once you look at some of the cakes under the counter glass it'll be rather hard to resist (just don't think about the calories)! Verdi's doesn't take bookings, and even as early as March it can become very popular on the weekends. Best advice is to come as early as possible, but be prepared for a wait, which I can honestly say is well worth it!

Great to take a coffee, nice cake or a light lunch while walking them along the promenade in a wheel chair.

Cafe's like this are dying out in Britain, and there's a reason for it, they're not quaint just…read moredated. the menu food on offer is rather boring, think sandwiches, cups of tea, coffee, and of course English breakfasts! I'll be fair it's not a dingy caf, but I found the place quite depressing. The food tasted bland, and the milkshake was simply strawberry milk. The presentation wasn't good either (very plain old looking mugs and plates). If you fancy good food and a cute cafe I recommend going over the road to Treasure (which has one out the back)!

It is a little known fact that Sir Isaac Newton, one of the smartest people to ever walk the earth,…read moredevoted a third of his life to the pursuit of alchemy. Of course, turning base metals into something completely different was beyond even this genius. But residing in the kitchen at Coffee Denn, Mumbles, is someone who may just of cracked it. For what surely started out as simple base ingredients - egg and cheese - arrived in front of me in a material form I've never come across before. A flying saucer orb with a dark, oily crust which gave way to a polystyrene rubber compound that should take the interest of Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop should they be looking to develop a lighter, longer lasting tyre for use in heavy industry. The cheese-like substance providing extra grip, if the chef can work on a tread pattern, they're onto something big. Light as air but durable in the extreme. Albumem and yolk magically transformed into something with the mouth feel of a Brillo Pad. My 'omelette' was accompanied by some nachos and a salad containing a quartered up orange. I dare say if there was some Marmite and a can of tuna going spare in the store cupboard they would have happily lobbed them on the plate too. My dish was like staring into a time warp. It could easily have starred in an episode of Heartbeat. The Mumbles is a beautiful place, set as it is on Swansea Bay. But if you ever need to make a pit stop at Coffee Denn (there is surprisingly little choice), avoid the hot food here at all costs here and stick to their pretty array of cakes and scones.

A fun place to enjoy a full British breakfast (and more I guess - but we both enjoyed the…read morebreakfasts). The place is is located a 15 minute walk from the center of town - unless it is cold, windy or rainy (never happens in Wales right?!) a very pleasant walk to enjoy the views and the fresh hour. However don't feel obliged to park in town and walk if you don't want to as there is ample parking by the pier based on our experience. The restaurant is clean and has both inside and outside seating with prompt and friendly service. A playerless piano plays music for you while you dine. Walk through a door after breakfast and there you are in an extensive amusement arcade - fun! And then there is the pier itself with its views and bracing fresh air. Another option is to climb some steps up to a cliffs above (behind the cafe) from which you can enjoy further views. Fun place to visit!!

Waiting, had time to look at the menu for the Pier Cafe (http://www.mumbles-pier.co.uk/pier/menu.pdf ) and gaze around the ornate Cafe interior - chandaliers, polished wood floors and tasteful wicker chairs. Wonderful views over Swansea Bay from the huge windows - light and airy feel inside. Cheerful little tables outside for warmer weather or hardy smokers. Plenty of choice on menu along with pretty Ice Cream & Soda Bar to lure the young ones (if they actually need any luring when ice cream is mentioned - but the Bar just makes sure). Highly recommended, especially in colder months if just paid 50p to brave the Pier extremeties (perhaps to visit the Ape Lady ) and need a warming liquid and nourishment reviver.
