Quick and painless! I love her and the people in her office. I was in Asheville one evening and my face started killing me. They saw me late in the day and I had a root canal the next morning. done... they use magic stuff to quickly numb only the area to be worked on and it is gone as you walk out. in and out in an hour. I have had 2 root canals here. read more

Three months before my first appointment I asked them to check my insurance coverage because it's out of state. They refused and said that they would do that a month before the appointment ... if I reminded them. I did remind them at the one-month mark, and they could not navigate my insurance company's authorization process. My previous dentist had been doing it fine for four years so it's squarely a problem at Embark Dental. Three days before the appointment they asked me to send pictures of my insurance card, which I did. But it wasn't until the morning of the appointment that they texted me to say that they (mistakenly) thought my insurance only covered medical. That's an odd assumption considering that my insurance company had been paying my dental bills for the previous four years. When I arrived at their office, they still had not managed the simple navigation of a Blue Shield insurance agency. They wanted me to give them a credit card. They were basically saying that since they were so incompetent that they could not determine that I was actually covered for dental, they wanted to be able to tag my credit card to cover their inabilities. Then they wanted to digitize my driver's license. I am a former designated security officer for the Air Force, I have spent my whole life in high tech, and I know that digitized IDs are the new form of ID theft. When I declined to let them digitize my driver's license, they said that would be a requirement. I left. Save yourself the problem of leaving their office by not going there to begin with. You'll also save yourself a ton of unnecessary aggravation.

I knew I should have looked for a new provider then. I have now been a patient for 13 years and was told recently it was a policy that I was unable to schedule an appointment without paying $50.00 since I was self pay. When I expressed frustration about this I was then banned from making an appointment.. I even called to apologize for being upset and said I would pay whatever I needed to in order to schedule an appointment ( its hard to find a new provider). I was then told I was banned from scheduling and could leave a message from the office manager. I have left several messages each weeks apart and no one will return my calls. Every week I call back and get the same run around. I even called the nurse triage to make sure I have a bridge prescription for my two medications I am prescribed and they will not call me back either. The negligence is unheard of. I have been dealing with this for the past month. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this practice. I have never been treated so terribly by multiple different office staff.

I called them back the same day to confirm the appointment details because it wasn't on my calendar for the same time - confirmed the information and hung up. Called back 5 mins later to confirm the address/location, since I noticed on their website that they had multiple locations. I showed up today to the appointment, having driven 40 minutes from Hendersonville on a Monday morning, only to be told "looks like your appointment was cancelled by the patient on the phone". I know the miscommunication wasn't on my end because I clearly called back to confirm the location and had spoken to the same person - typically people don't do that when cancelling an appointment, do they? No accountability or willingness to do anything on their end except schedule me out for another few months. I now wasted valuable time and have to wait more months for another appointment. I am probably going to see if I can find a better place between now and then because of this disappointing experience. Maybe their doctors are good, but an incompetent front desk that costs me time (and therefore money) is something I cannot tolerate. I'm sure they'd still charge me per their "cancellation and missed appointment policy" if I missed a scheduled appointment - it should go both ways, unless they think their time is more important than their patients.
