The service is very good, the beef is even better than the service, and the river fish is surprisingly above average - I suggest you give the fish a try when you dine at this restaurant; I'm glad that I did both :-) This is one of my favorite dining destinations in town; I highly recommend it :-)

One of our family's favorite restaurants! No pretension! We always order the Asade de tira (short…read morerib) which is so large it hangs off the serving platter. Easily serves 2 or 3 people. The other meats like blood sausage and sweetbread are also a must. The salads are pretty good, always fresh. We see lots of older gentlemen eating there for dinner, easily polishing off a salad, an entrecot and then dessert! Pretty ambitious. The mashed potatoes could use some work - lots of water rather than milk and not creamy enough! I suggest the restaurant add milk or cream, and butter!

The starters are quite good (I've tried at least three of the half dozen starters on the menu) the grilled provolone cheese being the best. But from your starter on you'd probably feel that brilliant first impression starts to fade away... Maybe if you choose to eat at Refineria you should stick to the "parrilla" option; I've heard that it's the best they offer. Be sure to sit inside if you don't like mosquito bites or the smell of mosquito repellent mixing with your food. All in all, the place is lovely and the service is very good but their food, unfortunately, is not as good as their service or ambiance. Don't get me wrong, the food is far from bad, but it's just not good enough.

Another time, I had pasta because I had beef for lunch earlier that day; much to my surprise the pasta was excellent too. All the waiters here know the menu very well, and do an excellent job of recommending how to prepare the dishes they suggest. It's all the more impressive when the dishes recommended aren't necessarily the most expensive ones on the menu. Overall, the quality is consistently very good and the prices are decent. Highly recommended!
