Whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to visit Constellation Marketplace and Tea Cozy next…read moredoor. These stores are gems in the area and I love browsing the latest items curated here. They have gifts for every taste and you never know what you're going to find that you just have to have for your own place. With selections of items from jewelry and stickers to ceramics, candles, lotions, children's items, and more. Some of my favorite items to browse are the candles for the latest seasonal scents, the local items, and the ceramics. The best part is that they refresh inventory and bring in seasonal items so everytime you visit there's something new to look at. On top of the great variety of items for purchase, they partner with local businesses for events and experiences where you can craft, learn more about products, and get hands on. They're bringing the community together while uplifting other small businesses. The team here is always friendly, and if it's not the owner it's typically another small business owner so you can make small talk and learn something new. The pricing ranges based on the products and brands that are carried but I've found some great deals and feel like all the products I've purchased here are well worth the cost.

What a great spot to pick up items for yourself and as gifts…read more We came here and loved the hand crafted items and the unique variety of high quality goods. From children's clothing to leather and wood kitchen accessories to hand made jewelry, there is certainly something you need! Service was stellar, friendly and fun! Value was great also. You can tell that the products are quality goods, which do run more than plastics, but are so much better for you. Recommend!

Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store - Our neighborhood, the historic R Street Corridor

Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store

Adj: Treasure Trove of Yummylicious Yarn and More!…read more Another incredibly special and quite exclusive store in Sacramento that I somehow have only visited once or twice long ago, and which I've not really appreciate until now. I'm so glad that I have finally paid a meaningful visit to Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store recently. Rumpelstiltskin, located on the R St corridor, is quite a long-standing establishment in Sacramento that has been providing the Sacramento fiber art community with supplies and knowledge for over 50 years! Rumpelstiltskin sells a wide selection of high-quality yarns, fiber art tools, and other supplies for crocheting, knitting, spinning, and weaving, so there's definitely a great variety of products offered here for various interests. Perhaps because the skill level of my two fiber art hobbies, crocheting and knitting, are quite elementary and have not improved much over the years, I've so far had all my yarn needs met at the more conventional arts and crafts stores of the big box variety. But as I am getting more serious about my yarn hobbies, I'm now interested in finding stores that offer more specialized products and even provide classes that will help me improve in my crafts skills. I am also looking to connect more with the fiber art community in Sacramento because my venture into joining that community so far has shown me how warm and welcoming fiber artists are and it is totally possible to learn from seasoned hobbyists and pros/teachers if one puts their mind to it. I've even connected with some very local yarn enthusiasts at my local library and I'm sure they all have visited Rumpelstiltskin. On this visit, I saw lots of exclusive brands and types of yarn made of much better material than I'm used to using. From basic wool to more specialized Merino, Alpaca, and Shetland, there were many different kinds available. One I particular liked was the cashmere wool which felt heavenly. I learned that Rumpelstiltskin makes it a point to partner with fiber farms and other small boutique fiber suppliers to source yarn and other fiber products that are not only exclusive, but that are truly local and US-made as much as possible. Rumpelstiltskin even shares the stories behind each brand they carry and even hosts "Farm to Needle" events to introduce some of their thoughtfully curated products that are specially selected for their quality and uniqueness. As such I noticed that the prices of their products are definitely several times higher than that of regular arts and crafts stores, but again Rumpelstiltskin sells really high-quality yarns and supplies. I did not have any questions for staff during my visit, but I saw a class taking place and noticed that besides the looks of concentration, it was smiles all around as everyone was really enjoying their class, so I'm also going to look into taking a class or joining in one of Rumpelstiltskin's events. Just from a quick glance at their website, I see offerings of beginner's knitting classes for adults and kids, an embroidery intro class, a felted slippers class which sounds super interesting and practical, a sweater class for those who are ready for bigger projects, and even basket coiling, spindle spinning, spinning wheel, and weaving classes. Besides the classes that have costs associated and private lessons for those who want 1:1 instruction, there are also monthly and periodic free knitting circles for kids and social stitch events. I did not interact with staff today, so I can't speak on customer service, but maybe on a future shopping trip, I'll hopefully be helped if needed. In short, Rumpelstiltskin really is a wonderful staple in the Sacramento community for fiber art beginners, hobbyists, and pro-level enthusiasts alike and I'm so glad I know more about Rumpelstiltskin now so I can feel comfortable to come back for higher-quality yarn and supplies for more serious projects as well as for classes and events to connect with our local fiber art community.

On top of that, I've been coming here for years and been met with nothing but experienced, thoughtful interactions that help me to complete my projects! Independent yarn stores are a dying breed. I urge you to support your local economy and put your money in the pockets of REAL people, not Joann, not Michael. Rumpel FTW

So when all of the events were canceled all they could do was make excuses and issue certificates for future events. Major vendors have left since they lost so much money and saw the true nature of this business. So now the events going forward will be much smaller. A certificate for one of these future events instead of a refund of the ticket price paid in 2019 is not an equal substitute. Meanwhile the company is holding online events for which they are collecting fees, but still no refunds. Next year's schedule is already posted to their website. Everything you need to know and get ready for an expo is right there. I have been to over 10 expos since it started. It's held downtown at the convention center. We have an area the size of a football field set up so we can scrap from 8 am to midnight Friday and Saturday and 3pm to midnight Thursday. At the crops they offer use of a large work station with various scrapbooking tools. Prizes are drawn all evening long. On Thursday night there are 10 make and takes included in the evening. Next door to the scrap area is a shopping center that fits onto another football field. Name brand suppliers and some smaller companys bring the latest products to demo and sell. You can shop til you drop Friday and Saturday 9-5. Over 50 instructional classes are also offered in adjacent classrooms for two days. If you think you might want to start scrapbooking or card marking this event could truly get you hooked. If you are an old pro at it, this is an all around great venue to enjoy your craft.

I loved this place! If id only had more time in here! (There is so much to look at I'd be here all…read moreday) I was going to pick up a few things when in I went a little slower to shop for myself. The selection of goodies in this boutique is MASSIVE! Everywhere you look there are such cool things One of the girls and one working the floor really helped me because I was fascinated by the candles but confused on what was what, so thank you loves! I even found a kitty calendar for 2026 and I am already extremely excited to hang it up! As far as the cost was id you kept your eye out you could get some seriously good products for a good deal I think I got 5-6 chunky candles some oils the calendar for 50 to 69 bucks but there are some candles there that are that exact price. The girls working will steer you in the right direction away from the crazy high priced things 1000/10 overall WILL be returning with friends to do some serious damage bans say hello to the sweet employees!!

What a cute shop of trinklets!!!…read more After the Midtown Farmers Market, my Sis and I wanted to walk around some more. Be sure to pay for your parking before you walk away!! On weekends, it's harder to find parking, but with patience, you'll get one. My sister wanted to go to vampire penguin but we were distracted by "Garden of Enchantment." As we walked in, we noticed the astrology books and then crystals, wind chimes... there were beautiful wooden chests that I want to come back for. This store has narrow isles and gets packed! So be careful! Any of these items can be beautiful gifts or just something special for yourself. I ended up getting some jewelery and some incense for my daughter. Some items felt like they were very overpriced. Like... back in Roseville, I could get the same crystal for at least $8 cheaper. Not that I couldn't afford it, but to me, it was a ridiculously priced... but hey!! It's in Old Sacramento... which can be a touristy kinda place! So prices get hiked! When I paid for my items, the girl behind the register was fast and had me out of the crowd quick. Onto the next shop!!!!
