Cool historic site. 2- Basilica del Santo Nino - The oldest Catholic Church in the Philippines is located right here in Cebu! Nice visit for believers and even non-believers no matter what religious background you have 3- Magellan's Cross - Ferdinand Magellan's Catholic legacy, a large wooden cross 4- Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House - one of the oldest and best-preserved houses in all of Cebu. wow! the house was constructed out of coral stones and wood and was built sometime between 1675 and 1700 5- Cebu Heritage Monument - sculpture depicting centuries of tales and historic events. Such detailed work! 6- Cebu Taoist Temple - Located in the Beverly Hills subdivision of Cebu. Lots of steps! 7- Temple of Leah - we saw statues of angels, lions, gladiators, and -whoa- a 10-foot statue of Leah 8- Sirao Gardens - we did it for the gram. LoL lots of photo op in this pictorial garden 9- La Parisienne Sky - enjoyed yummy pastries and gelato while atop a scenic view. French-themed restaurant 10- SM Seaside - Over 800 food and non-food stores... includes 5 Cinemas, IMAX, bowling, ice skating, a theatre, a roof garden shopping, dining... holy moly! ... and, lastly, Colon Street. Colon Street sits in the heart of downtown Cebu City and is known to be the oldest street in Cebu. It even has its own monument. LoL Review #3348

OMG, why haven"t I tried Canyoneering before?! What an amazing day at Kawasan falls. If you are…read moreeven slightly adventurous, I highly recommend joining one of the outfitters on a canyonerring adventure,to trek through the series of three falls. Canyoneering involves hiking, jumping, scrambling, and diving. Our trip took slightly over four hours. I do not advise doing it alone as the guides not only know the best routes, but they are there to assist you as you go through the series of falls. At one jump I actually lost a shoe and one of them retrieved it. Also, there was a landslide the week before where they rerouted. I think it's best you join an outditter, which will also provide you with safety gear. If you choose to do only some scenic shots, there is an admittance/ ecological fee. The waters, unique color comes from the lime stone, which gives it that Gatorade color-effect. Along the route, you will encounter a few barbecue, and eating stations. Surprisingly, the rocks were not that slippery. Even though this can get crowded with tourists, I am amazed at how clean the forest and water were. One of my most memorable days in the Philippines so far.

There are some places to eat there but I saw that there was a sign that they were taking down some of the establishments built around the waterfalls as it was put there illegally and they were charging people. Be careful with your belongings and be careful as the roads are slippery. I challenged myself hiking in slippers. Where trek sandals instead. Carry small change going there so you don't show your big bills. Put bug spray as there are mosquitoes there. Be careful and have fun!! [20/100]

The Aguinid Waterfalls are a series of eight waterfalls with various pools beneath them. You can get a tour guide, but they only get paid by tips. Climbing up the falls is extremely fun and refreshing in the tropical Philippine sun. The first 5 levels of the falls are simple enough to climb, and very picturesque. The final 3 levels require some upper body strength to get to, and the fall is quite dangerous, so most people don't get to go. Fortunately, I got to experience all eight levels. The final 3 are much more pristine, since so few make it up there. It's definitely worth the price of admission if you're in the area.

Compared with the whale sharks viewing in Oslob , the municipality has not yet finalize the organization of the place. By rule, the guides cannot demand payment from the guest. But they are one of the reason why we can enjoy the waterfalls, so please be understanding. All of then are really helpful and are willing to give a hand to visitors in need. There are 8 levels, but most are only allowed till the 5th area. From there on, you need to have guts and strong legs and arms to pull yourself to the top. The water is definitely nicer and cleaner there. From the 8th level, you can go down using the normal route down. I was glad I made the decision to climb, and of course it was because of the help of our guide (Al). Shoes is highly recommended , though I was able to do it with just slippers :)

The highway itself is paved with cement but going in from the highway to the "glowing gardens" will be an unpaved passage way. We went when it was drizzling out and the road started getting slightly muddy. Small cars can enter just be cautious of the humps, bumps, and sudden dips along the way. Parking was not really organized and on top of weaving through the uneven passage you also have to deal with people (and motorcycles) randomly crossing your way. You either park on the mud or on sharp rocks so just be careful. Entrance is 30 pesos per person (less than a $1.00). Parking was free at the time of this review but we tipped the children to watch our vehicles as parking was tight and large buses were also parked in the area. Once the entrance fee was paid you go through the manned gates and unto a cement paved path towards the garden. We had someone in our party who brought their wheelchair and was able to enjoy the view and the garden as well. The path around the garden is a loop, however towards the end it can prove quite challenging as it is a steep ascent back up to exit. The garden itself was ok, the flowers are l.e.d and we didn't go during dusk hours to view them glowing. The view was peaceful despite all the crowds. They also had a small cafe for snacks and such. Restrooms also available at the entrance area. Overall: If we are to return, we will try to go during the hours when the flowers "glow". Hopefully, they'll invest in cementing the passage and create a more organized parking system.

We really had a bad experience in Palompon Tourism Office and Coast Guard Sub-office. We arrived at Palompon Tourism office around 3:00 in the afternoon. Before that, we already had a reservation for the boat for the trip. Also, we kept on updating our contact re boat and if there was cancellation of trips since based on weather forecasts, there was a low pressure, or a bad weather condition and not good for travelling via small boat. So, when we got there, we were asked for environmental fee (which was really expensive, comparing to other tourist spots in the Philippines that I have visited, also with a poor sanitation of their comfort rooms), and registered ourselves as part of the requirements for the boat-ride to the island. Few hours later, we were told to go to the boat, and go to Kalanggaman Island. When we were all settled on the boat, we were informed that all boat trips to the island got cancelled because the Coast Guard Sub-Office in Palompon, Leyte did not accept our permission to travel - note that we were only told by the boat-driver about the cancellation of trips without formal notices to the passengers. So, since the boat-driver did not show any proof that the trip should be cancelled, some of my friends, including me, decided to talk to the officer in the Tourism Office, since we were first referred by the boat-driver there. Then, the Tourism Officer told us that the they can't do anything about it because the Coast Guard Office has the final say as to people who can travel via boats. The former kept telling us that the latter did not inform them regarding cancellation of trips beforehand, that's why they just allowed us to register and go on the boat. So, the Tourism officers told us to talk to the Coast Guard officers about the cancellation. When we arrived at their office, only one coast guard was there, and told us that their Commander instructed them to not allow boats to travel to the island. Yes, for our safety and part of there protocol. But what we did not understand was that how come they did not communicate it right away to the Tourism Office - the Coast Guard officer answered us, "Because the mobile phone of the tourism officer was out of coverage." This was just one thing we got really disappointed with the services of these officers in Palompon Leyte. Considering that Kalanggaman Island is one of the top attractions in the region, they should consider upgrading their services for the benefit of the tourists who go to the island. If we were informed earlier regarding the cancellation, we could've went to other sopts in Leyte. But the thing is, they told us right there and then. Just really disappointed, and I hope they do something about it. The place is quite far from the city, and such act is not helping promote the place at all.

Chicharon and Lechon!! Those are the first things that I think of when I hear the city of Carcar…read morementioned. Seriously, so much delicious chicharon is made in Carcar City. Their is a section of stalls located close to the rotunda which showcase many kinds of yummy chicharon. For those who do not know, chicharon is pork rind cracklings. The lechon (roasted pig) made in Carcar is a bit salty, but mouthwatering delicious!! The city of Carcar is also known as the Heritage city of Cebu. Many Spanish Colonial structures found throughout the city. So make sure to visit the City of Carcar when you go to the beautiful island of Cebu in the Philippines. Yeah it is crowded and traffic a bit chaotic, but eating some of their yummy delicacies makes it so worth it!
