New to town and wondering where you can take your car without getting ripped off????…read more This is the place: trustworthy, honest and genuine nice guys. They did only what was necessary and didn't rip me off. They rang me and gave me a quote before they began tackling the job. I was able to book in for the day I wanted and got it back that arvo all fixed & ready to go. They left the car clean without grease & grime on the exterior and interior (even blacked the wheels for me). I rate them :-D

I took it to various service centres (including official ones for my make of car) and none could solve the issue, let alone identify it. Kat's did and went well out of the way to. They had the experience, dedication and the technology to diagnose and resolve the issue. Other services since have always been informative and their communication is clear and precise. They even tracked down a spare part for me from a wreckers (other centres didn't even try and only recommend new parts). Can't fault them at all! Price: Very reasonable. Location: Parking on premises but also has ample on-street parking. Also reasonably close to the city but definitely not walking distance. Other: If you end up servicing your car here and it works out well for you mention my name to them and refer them to others. I believe we'll both get discounts for future services. Context: Have been servicing my car here for years.

Steer well clear. Had my car serviced here for the first time, Daniel came back to me with a list…read moreof issues totalling over $1500 to fix. Paid for the service only, collected the car and made the effort to take the car to a trusted workshop on the Sunshine Coast (owned by my uncle) for a second diagnosis. Some of the issues Daniel cited as requiring attention were legitimate, some could be described as "erring on the side of caution" and some were 100% completely fabricated and false. The difference was $1100 from Daniel's quote to the second quote. I understand some mechanics might get a little creative in assessing what needs to be fixed on a car to benefit their bottom line, but this is an example of sheer dishonesty, no two ways about it. I don't like bringing down a business in this way, but scamming gougers like Daniel do not deserve the business they enjoy, and non-mechanically minded consumers like myself deserve better. If you are looking for a trustworthy, honest mechanic, do not take your vehicle to Daniel's Mechanical.
