Pro- It is a good Community College in the fact that a student will get a good base education here. I learned a lot at MCC. Pro- It is inexpensive. Most of the instructors care about the students. Pro-Macomb has many good professors who love their jobs and care about the students. Con- Some of the so-called professors are very unprofessional, (math professors in particular) don't care whether the students pass or not, and deserve to be fired. When you have students putting in the effort and doing the work and instructors aren't showing up, showing up without a syllabus and/or being lost in their own textbook, it's time to re-evaluate who should be employed there. Especially if 3/4 of the class is failing. I would have given 4 stars if it weren't for the 2 or 3 subpar professors I had to endure who ruined my GPA. I earned a better GPA at Walsh College, a more difficult school than at Macomb due to Macomb's poor professors. Tutors here do not want you coming in and asking them for help. They're attitude is you're bothering them. read more

This is strictly a review for the event that was done here. My son's robotics team made it to the state level of competition and it was held at MCC. I grew up living pretty much a block away from MCC. I received two associates degrees from this school way back in the day. My highschool graduation was held at this venue. But as far as the robotics competition, it was not really a suitable venue. This place was simply too small for the number of attendees. The gym area was big enough for the contest and there were plenty of giant screens to watch from. But the bleachers were very small and quite scary. Some of the seats were completely broken. Many people had to sit on the floor which is not ideal once you hit about 40. They had a nice concession stand set up but only four tables. And you had to stand. My back was killing me and these competitions are 12 hours long each day. So sitting in a real chair would have been nice! There weren't enough rooms. So the presentation and Q&A portion was held in a room with nothing but curtain dividers. Now you get a group of 15 Jr high kids together and they are going to be distracted by all of the outside noises etc. Also, that room was also what they set up for the lunch room. So we were unable to get in the room until 12:30 on Friday. No snacks for these kids and no where for them to put their stuff or blow off steam. What a nightmare. MCC offered a pre-ordered box lunch with a variety of options for $6.50. This was nice however, it was extremely unorganized. They also had more diet Pepsi than regular. Seems odd for a kids event ‍. The real odd part for me was that there was a mask mandate by both MCC and also FIRST robotics. I agree with this mandate, however they then stuck about 1000 kids and all of their parents in this make shift cafeteria to remove their masks and eat. There was not enough room for the whole team to sit and eat. The adults had to stand. But talk about a super spreader event! I mean why bother with masks if you're going to do that? I worked first aid and witnessed a panic attack over the cafeteria situation. I will say campus police were heavily present. Oxford highschool hosted the event and they did a lot to make them feel safe. Not to mention, Friday was a day of some stupid tick tock challenge so security was on high alert. One thing I found odd was that if there was an emergency we were directed by MCC to call campus police and not 911. But what are they going to do if we needed an ambulance? Just very strange. But thankfully, other than vomit, a sprained ankle from the bleachers, and a few bandaids there were zero major events. read more

So long story short I do not go to this school anymore. Currently, I am enrolled at Purdue Global. Even though I am not a student these people refuse to take me off their call list and at this point it is harassment and I feel as though the police should be involved. Just last week there were 3 male shooters near the campus. A few months back this school was busted for hosting a sex trafficking ring. Thousands of dollars were found at the scene along with a woman who was kidnapped. I went here in 2019 after I graduated in 2018. When I went here the men in the schools were always looking at me like I was an option for their wife. (there is not a lot of culture either considering most of the school is Arabian men) which again is why I felt sexually harassed by these men's looks at me. They only view women as items in their cultures. The teachers here will accuse you of cheating but then do nothing and not take it to the DEAN. When I was in the Italian class everyone was cheating yet she found 1 student doing it and made a big deal. The only teacher who actually knew how to teach in this place was the 1st and 2nd years English Prof. I had. The ASTROLOGY teacher was yet again an Arabian man who did not speak any form of good English. When the class explained to him POLITELY that none of us could understand his broken English, he just removed all of our tests and assignments and passed us all. I literally colored in a coloring book that whole class and then slept in my car. This school is a joke and nothing will ever be done because these dumb teachers have tenure. For anyone who doesn't know what that means, it means even if they sexually harass a student they will never be fired. read more

What a fantastic campus. We were only there for a performance put on by ATWAS (All The Worlds A Stage) but the campus was so easy to get around. The grass was nice and green and well taken care of, parking lots and grounds themselves were clean. The performance was in Building K on the second floor. The room that was used was perfect for the small performance put on by the kids. read more

This was a great location for the Great Lakes Comic-con. The school was easy to find and had great parking. While the line was long, it moved quickly and an online purchase option was available for this who did not want to wait. The people were friendly and the event was well organized. In addition to the vendors, there were multiple free plays available, including arcade games, board games, and tournaments. There were seating areas available for parents and the panels were fun as well. I enjoyed the cast of Sesame Street and Mr. Rodgers. My kids enjoyed the comics, anime, and cosplay. read more

I remember when there was a time you told people you were going to MCC and people went "oh..." Now you tell them and they ask "What are you taking?" "Are you getting your bachelors?". People do not realize that we have one of the best community colleges in the country right here in Macomb. There are so many different programs to choose from, and now with the University Center, you can't lose! My wife completed the certified nursing assistant and home care assistant programs at Macomb Community College. The CNA program prepared her well for the state CNA exam, which she passed on her first attempt. Aside from learning a great deal, she found the classroom experience to be fun and engaging. She spoke highly of the instructors, especially Deborah Brown, who also heads the CNA program. Macomb's price tag for the CNA program was comparable to what other area schools were charging for CNA training. We will keep Macomb in mind for our future needs, especially for nursing programs. read more

We attend monthly real estate meetings here with REIA of Macomb and they are held in the John Lewis Student Community Center. The facilities are conveniently located off 12 Mile Rd & Hayes. Plenty of parking although you may have to walk a bit to get here. Various room sizes are available for different group sizes and are well equipped for presentations and discussions. Restrooms are clean and the building is well maintained. read more

I want to give them more stars but come on. The restrooms are unkept; I mean they are downright filthy with things regularly left in toilets, overflowing waste baskets. This is every day not just a one-time occurrence. Trying to speak with an advisor is nearly impossible. They act like they don't want to help you. The tutors are great and the instructors are good for the most part. They let students conduct themselves in any way including talking on their phones in the library, being loud, and disrespectful. In a study environment. It is not a respectful environment for students that want to go here to study. MCC is ok but could be much better. read more

Center campus is the larger of the two MCC campuses. It offers nearly all of the same courses that South campus offers, but with so much more one the campus. One of the most important things on this campus is the Macomb Center for Performing Arts. This theater has hosted many events dealing with anything and everything under the rubric of "performing arts." I've seen an orchestral performance, plays, and other musical acts here. All the school districts in Macomb send their students here from time to time... I remember it really being a treat! It's a large, gorgeous theater that's just... comfortable. The Nursing Center and University Centers are both here. If you're going to go into the nursing program, then be prepared to make the journey here. The University Center functions exactly like satellite campuses do; most of the universities around will have classes at this center. I've taken two or three courses in this way after I transferred to Wayne State, and I had no complaints about the staff or the quality of the classes offered. The professors weren't isolated to from Wayne, but bounced between the main campus and others. The University Center is a convenient way to get out of a long commute, bad parking, and all the other things that went along with going to classes in Midtown. Compared to South Campus, the area reserved for tutors is huge. If you need a tutor, this would be the better choice. Also, get a map! The campus spans an extremely LARGE area, and you may find it difficult parking on one end and walking to the other; it's at least a 15 minute walk from one side to the next. All the parking is free! Unless you want to walk... If you end up having a class or two here, be happy. It's a great campus! read more

My feedback is not regarding everyone but I would have to say with a lot of the staff, their professionalism and demeanor is pathetic. Eating, snacking on the job, playing on their phones, engaging in conversation with other staff members regarding nothing to do with work is not an impressive work ethic when potential students come on campus to interact with staff. Just because you have job security while you get the students to do all of your work for you does not mean you should behave this way. read more

I used to be a student at Macomb 10+ years ago. I recently moved back to the area and decided to finish up my Associates Degree. I've had nothing but issues trying to sign up for classes. I'll call and get transferred to the wrong department. Can't get the ppl working chat to answer questions. It's been a very frustrating experience. I'm Going to try to find another Community College it shouldn't be this difficult to get information and sign up for classes. Also their website sucks. read more

These professors don't even have the knowledge or the capacity to care. Macomb's Center Campus is a wonderful place! It may not have all the bells and whistles that the larger colleges have, but I feel at home here. The scenery is comfortable; there are no ridiculously tall hills to climb, there's a pretty wooded area across from the P building (which looks and smells great in the fall), a cute, little bridge, and plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy the day. The campus is large, but not large enough to get lost. One of the main reasons I enjoy coming here so much is the pleasant atmosphere, the openness. I didn't come from a large high school. I graduated a year ago from a Lutheran school with barely 300 students in the entire school. I was terrified to go to college last fall; I thought it would be this big, scary mess of buildings and cold people. But my experiences at Macomb are nothing like I imagined; the people are friendly, the teachers are phenomenal, and the school is just a great place to be. It's my second year here and I haven't had a single bad experience. I would recommend this college to anyone. read more

This school is a joke. They took a week and 10 phone calls to figure out an enrollment computer issue. A problem in their programming. Then three days before class starts they cancelled one. The third time this has happened. The teachers all have mailboxes which do not accept messages. None of the teachers in my program return emails. Do not attend this school. read more

I attended Macomb from 2003-2005 and I loved every minute of it. I attended both the south and center campuses and each has it's own swagger of sorts. The college is general offers various courses which are on par or even better than what you would get at universities. I took most of my prerequisite courses at south and a few at center. What I love most about both the school is the small class sizes, quality education, CHEAP TUITION and tons of parking spots !! The south campus is older in comparison to the center campus and it shows in the aesthetics on the building. However, in terms of the people, I prefer the south campus. I felt that the people were more laid back and fun loving where as center campus is all about the school work (yea, you don't want that @school right, lol). The other subjective opinion is that the people at center seem to be more stuck up in comparison to the south. Overall, this is an AWESOME school and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. read more

I've taken a number of classes at MCC, as have my kids. For basic classes allowing you to transfer to a four year University, it's great. Personal interest classes, fine. Other things, not so great. I work in a law office. We (and most other law firms) do not hire legal assistants or paralegals with no experience. MCC does not require internships for graduation. Without some interning, the degree for which you have worked so hard is worthless. Unless you are able to commit to some 9-5 interning, don't waste your time and money. P.S. - Learn to talk on the effing phone! We have gone through a number of entry level employees because they were so used to texting that they were terrified of talking to live people in real time. THE COURTS DON'T HAVE TEXTING. If you don't know proper telephone manners, ask your mom or your grandma. read more

MCC Center Campus is located closer to my home the the HQ in Warren. The Center Campus has a very new modern look and feel to it, there is plenty to do and walk around and sit by fountains, benches, the nature walk, the Student Center, ect. in between classes or after. The new Student Center has a nice cafeteria, an ATM, the Bookstore, Student Clubs, Study groups, a rec room, clean bathrooms, a vending machine, and snacks. The library is vast and offers a great place for groups and people to study. Classrooms are pretty nice, a couple are showing aging, however, they have up-to-date technology. The campus and services are very Mac friendly which is great for us Mac users. read more

I attended MCC south campus from 2001 - 2003, after going to MSU and changing my major, and before going to WSU to finish my BFA. I went through the Graphic and Communication Arts program (now known as Media and Communication Arts). I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the teachers that I did - those at WSU didn't compare. I got all the skills I needed for a job in graphic design (except I needed that piece of paper that says BFA on it, since I eventually want to be an art director), plus some extras. I ended up getting associate's degrees in two areas: photography and digital design and layout. I was able to finish both in 2 years, with taking 2 classes the summer of 2002, and having only 1 class from MSU transfer. The program turns out a well-rounded job candidate proficient in standard design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, and more) and thoughtful in regards to design theory and process. The staff in this department is amazing! They truly care about the success of every single current student and alum. They encourage submission of resumes and portfolios for critiquing and even will help with mock interviews. They will write letters of recommendation for students transferring to a university or for employment. Classes are smaller (about 16-18 students each) so everyone gets individual attention. The teachers are also working professionals and well known in the community; some are well known and respected nationally. The department head and some other teachers came from CCS, so this program is like getting a CCS education (but much better) for a tiny fraction of the cost. If you want to break into any of the design fields; graphic design, video, animation, web, etc; this is the best place in the area to start! read more

My rating is for the "counseling" department and financial aide. The counseling department is a hot mess. I got better help from my high school counselors... They are very unaware of the rules/regulations set in place at MCC. One counselor will tell you one thing and the next will tell you something completely different. When it comes to financial aid their rules are flat out ass. Make sure you read the fine lines when enrolling here. The only reason I'm still here is because the pre-requirements at OCC are different for my program. read more

I'm a college graduate who now has a Master's degree from the University of Michigan and I've gone to Macomb Community College for graphics skills classes and was never disappointed. I'm now enrolled for the advanced Photoshop class and looking forward to it. What I love about Macomb is that the professors are much more interested in helping everyone succeed than making students compete against each other (as they had to do at U of M. ) My nephew came to Macomb a few years ago looking for direction and inspiration and he found both and learned to love learning. He graduated from the University of Colorado after graduating from Macomb. He'll be pleased to hear that I'm now back at MCC! read more

This place is a great college. I was a speaker for a class last week and was able to meet many staff members and students. Seemingly everyone I met was nice and friendly. The only problem is the set up. It was difficult to locate where I needed to be once I found the correct building. The classrooms don't always follow numerical order which I can see being a problem to new students. read more

Word of warning, never try to return your book here. The manager named Cindy has horrible customer service skills. My fiancé bought his book here for a summer class not even a week ago, we decided not to do summer courses and went to return the rental. When he could not get his schedule up fast enough because even though it's within the 30 day return period, and that shouldn't be needed for a book bought within 6 days. She started egging him on and even threatened not to take the return. He wasn't yelling or speaking in any threatening manner, she even called security and they did nothing. If he was in any way rude or out of place they would have done something. He even apologized to her, when she was in the wrong. As he was walking out she was trying to threaten him with retail fraud and belittling him. As a manager you should never threaten or belittle a student! You should diffuse the situation not be rude and try to make it worse. She doesn't show good skills in decision or judgement, if she was a good manager and wasn't in the wrong then she wouldn't have resisted giving her name or the number to report the issue to a higher up. After he called for the number to report the issue they hung up on him, the person who answered the phone said 'oh really'. I had to call another location, who was able to give me the number and didn't hang up or place me on hold. We have made a complaint against this store manager with the parent company. So word of warning this lady will try to refuse your return and then try to scare you with credit card fraud. Be careful if you bought already. Or just buy from Amazon or chug.com. Well anywhere besides here! read more
