My favorite barbershop of all time! I use the app to book my appointment and I am in and out in 20 minutes with a great haircut

There are a few types of barber shops in Scranton. There arthem the overly aggressive, hipster barber shops, "salon style" barber shops, then there is Mackerel's. Mack has done a great job setting the place up to feel like a classic barbershop. You can tell he takes pride in his work. I went there for the first time in May after trying several barbers in the Scranton area and feeling disappointed every time. I needed to find a good barber before my wedding in June and this was my last chance. I've never had a better experience anywhere. I showed Mack a picture my (then) fiance had picked out and he went to work. I've never felt so confident leaving the barber shop before. I didn't even have to send her a picture to know it was perfect. Honestly, I'll never go anywhere else for a cut as long as I'm in NEPA. By far the most comfortable, friendly barber shop in the area. read more

Mackrell's Barbershop - Portrait from my wedding day. Hair by Mack. - Barbers Near Me - Scranton, Pennsylvania

Found myself back in Scranton for a family affair and desperately in need of a haircut. Was extremely ignorant regarding recent Covid restrictions. I walked in but was not aware that I had to make an appt via my smartphone. The guys corrected my mistake and got me in later same day. Was so appreciative!! The haircut was easy breezy, a great deal and again, was out in a flash. Love the place. Thanks again guys!!! read more

Young kid in front left chair gave me the best haircut of my life. My coarse and wavy hair is not easy, but he styled it perfectly, without using any product. Trimmed my eyebrows and ears. I think the official rate is $13. I gave him $20 and considered it a bargain. Talent and personality, a great combination for this job. Followup: Cut #2 just as good. Jonathon has a gift to do this job! read more

Great haircut at a great price! Mackrell and Liza in typical barbershop style engage customers in fun conversation creating a wonderful environment. Thank you again and I'll see you at the end of the month when I fly back into town! 7/29 - Another great haircut from Mackrell, keeping my style fresh! Can't say enough good things... Great haircut, great price, great environment. Wanna learn to cut hair? Here's your spot! Wanna get your hair right, you know where to go. read more

It's a barber shop, plain and simple. You walk in, you get a nice, respectable cut, you get your neck shaved with a cutthroat razor. All for $12. I've been going to Mac for two years now, and I've never been dissatisfied. But he does get busy in the afternoon, so plan to wait for three or four guys ahead of you. And he's closed on Mondays. read more

Decent place. I went there like 2 times. Not real friendly people. But they cut my hair. Good luck read more

Good barber, good price Due to my profession (U.S. Marines) I have successfully recieved a haircut every week for the past 10 years and counting. With all the traveling I do in my job I tend to find myself in a new city, state, even country with no clue who the true barbers are (assuming any even exist in the general area). Needless to say I have got alot of screwed up haircuts in the past. While in the Scranton area to visit family for a couple weeks I was in dyer need of a nice medium skin fade. I went on Yelp and Mackrells was the first to pop up. I immediately called because step one to finding a true barber is asking them specific questions for example "Do you know what a straight blade razor is?" And "Can you use it properly and not kill someone?" Mark sounded like a good to go guy and his price was average so I decided to give his place a shot. Upon arrival I was greeted and welcomed to sit down and told my approximate wait time. Once in the seat, Mark asked me how I liked my haircut. I gave him some specific instructions which throughout the haircut he continued to double check to make sure things were to my liking. The end result was awesome. I was a little nervous like anyone would be when they go to a new barber but since that day I have been back twice and every time I come back into town I will for sure come to Mackrells. Thanks! read more

Mack is a great barber. I've been going to him since college. $12 haircut that always leaves you looking fresh. read more

Mackrell's Barbershop - Sitting in the waiting room - Barbers Near Me - Scranton, Pennsylvania

I have been going to Mackrells for a couple of years. I travel quite a bit and use many barbers/stylist, these guys have fixed more than one bad cut for me, simple in and out, no appt required. read more

I was in Scranton for the day on business and I needed a cut, so I turned to yelp. This place didn't have many reviews, but it was within walking distance of the hotel (Radisson, Lackawanna Station), so it fit the bill. The experience exceeded my expectations. The place was clean, the barbers were friendly, and the haircut was only $12 (neck trim with a straight razor and hot lather, as you would expect from a good barbershop)! I got my cut from Mark, the owner. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable... I don't have simple, straight hair to work with, and he managed my thick, frizzy, cowlick-ridden pelage with ease. I was very pleased with the outcome. If you're in Scranton and you need a cut, I highly recommend Mackrell's! read more

I had my hair cut by the owner, who seemed like a likable man's man, and his business reflects that. It had a man cave vibe, in a good way. The magazine selection was good, the place was clean, and all the barbers seemed to be making good conversation with their clients. It's nice that places like this still exist. read more

Great shop in a very accessible center city location. During my multiple trips I've seen little kids, high schoolers, college age clients, young professionals, and some elderly folks. All appeared to leave satisfied with their cut, and I was extremely happy with mine. Superb attention to detail, focus on the individual, good conversation, and a high quality cut. The shop appears new, clean, cool atmosphere/decorations, and a nice waiting area with a television and a good mix of magazines. The wait is never long, and the service is fantastic. Highly recommend, and I'll be going back regularly. read more

Great, simple and professional. Friendly owner and a price you can't beat @ $12. I had a run of bad barbers (don't really understand what is hard about a men's buzz cut) so I was relieved to find Mackrell's. read more

My boyfriend got a great haircut!! Great customer service and he loved the hot lather shave. With 3 barbers there was no wait!

Good clean haircuts with polite conversation. Prompt service, cheap. What on earth more could you want from your barber. I was referred several months ago. And I have referred several people more. There is a reason this man is still in business read more

When you first walk in you will have to sign your name on a list and they will do first come first serve.the waiting room isn't anything too write home about but then again it is a waiting room. There werfe two "barbers" working (Can a women be a barber?) ,it took them about 20 minutes to cut the hair of the people before me and took them just about as long for me.. I left satisfied with my hair cut ,but then again I'm not too picky . Overall this is a great walk-in shop for a "$10" hair cut. (Its $12+tip ) read more

This is actually one of the better places in Scranton. They did exactly what I wanted from the pictures that I showed them. They were very nice and it is a reasonable price. Definitely recommend to everyone. The atmosphere was great too. Made me feel at home. read more

Great barber shop in the heart of Scranton. Always 3-4 barbers working at a time so rarely a big wait. Different barbers so you can really get someone that works well for you. Normal prices. Great atmosphere and accommodations. Staff has always been nice to me and the place has a nice homey feel to it. The barber that I use always listens to me and helps me get a great haircut for me. read more

Always a good cut, reasonable price. Location is perfect for me downtown. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. They even stayed open later for me one night. read more

Went to this barber shop for 4 years exclusively. I can't vouch for female haircuts, but for guys, there's no other place. Just tell the owner how you like your hair and it's done. If it's not to your satisfaction, just let them know and they'll fix it. The new location, only two shops down, has a much better atmosphere. For $12 bucks plus tips, you can't beat the price or service. read more

If you are looking for the real barbershop feel, then this is definitely your place! $12 for a cut and they offer discounts to students for $10! It's a super friendly atmosphere and they really get to know you. You do have to usually wait as it's first come first serve but I have always gotten a fresh cut and left feeling great! read more

Nice cut, price is right. Very pleasant workers too. Really appreciate the straight razor on the back, and the eyebrow trim

Great haircut for a really good price. Right downtown in a solid location that's easy to walk to and from. 4 barbers so usually not a long wait. Tim is a really nice guy and his shop is spotless! People usually have "a guy" when it comes to barbers and this is a great spot to find one. read more

Barber shop done right. Clean , affordable, professional , and personal. Featuring Sports memorabilia, good conversation, and a positive atmosphere. Referred by friend over 12 years ago, this is my spot and Mack is my guy. I've been Consistently receiving the perfect cut , straight razor neck line, and hospitality. I once moved away for 2 years and I missed this place more than I ever imagined. See Mack or anyone on his team - you won't regret it ! read more

Great service , great price, great atmosphere. I would recommend Mackrell's to anyone.
