This is one of the most delightful additions to the neighborhood of Carnegie. The Artsmiths of…read morePittsburgh is a storefront that sells the designs and works of numerous Pittsburgh area artists. Their website says that the "gallery shop is an art exhibit all its own", and I agree 100%. There's a little bit of everything here - stickers, jewelry, ceramics, glassworks, bath and beauty products, illustrations, photography, paintings, woodwork...that's all here, laid out in a way that makes it easy for you to browse through the art medium(s) you wish to explore. With hundreds of artists being displayed here, it's super easy to browse and see what local makers are up to. Previously Artsmiths operated out of Mt. Lebanon, so if the name sounds familiar, it's because they were in another neighborhood for over a decade. A big reason they moved to Carnegie was that they were growing to a point that they wanted a better space to host their classes. Yes, the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh is more than a storefront - they're also an art center. Their classes will introduce you to mosaics, embroidery, and more. (If that sounds interesting to you, their website is the best place to keep up with their in-person classes, workshops, and camps.) With the holidays rolling up on us yet again, this is a business you'll absolutely want to visit; you're practically guaranteed to find the perfect gift for someone/multiple someones. Beware, though - your wallet might take a hit after you fall in love with all of the beautiful art that's for sale. Mine certainly does when I visit!

I may be biased because I love pinball, but this exhibit is really cool (see photos), and you also get to play a real pinball machine ('Game of Thrones') which is set to freeplay, and is part of the exhibit. The artworks incorporate old, recycled, parts and pieces from pinball machines. I thought it was fascinating. And like I said, his place is really awesome for gifts, artworks, and all kinds of nic-nacs, books, stationary, and other fun stuff, most, if not all of it, made locally in the Pittsburgh area, and a lot of it, featuring a Pittsburgh theme. Big Cheers!!!!! P.S. The cafe' is no longer open, but they are looking for someone to run it, so if you are looking for a business opportunity, inquire within

Trinity Jewelers was a better deal than buying online, and ultimately much easier. I came into it…read moreconvinced I would buy online to "save money" and only contacted them because my brother went there and had a great experience. I came out of it all with an engagement ring! I worked with Abby, who is a saint when it comes to patience with me. I actually live in FL now so I did everything via email and had the ring shipped to me once it was completed. I looked at probably 10 or 15 diamonds that Abby found for me before I decided on the "right" one. She took pictures and videos of each one and sent them to me for review. Once I picked out the diamond, the next step was the ring. There were over 2,000 different styles to choose from (more than I can handle) so I told Abby what I was looking for and she found 3 that met my qualifications. I never could have done it on my own! They are very knowledgeable and not at all pushy. I took me almost 3 months from beginning to end (by my choice, of course). Once I got the price, I searched Blue Nile & James Allen for a similar diamond / ring. I couldn't find a better price for an equivalent diamond. The folks at Trinity can't be beat!

This June my daughter got married and I wanted to have my set: engagement ring, anniversary band & wedding band repaired, stretched and worn together. John did superb work in repairing, stretching, cleaning & polishing my bands and had them done in record time and had them looking like new, the price was way within my budget too! This was important & special to me as I especially wanted to remind myself of our wedding day & the years married with my husband and how someday we will receive and invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb. (see Revelation 19). Thank you John, for the amazing work on my rings and to the friendly staff at Trinity for all your help too!

I was impressed with the use of space in this smaller building. The owners have pretty much every possible inch covered in new boos, used books, children's books, bookmarks, book-themed drink ware, and other small items. They have a price explicated by colored stickers they place on the spines. I thought the prices were very fair considering what you'd spend at Barnes and Noble. I left with one adult used book that's fairly new and one children's book. I spent $13. My friend bought 3 first edition Harry Potter books, a new fantasy book, and a themed drinking glass and spent right around $50. The woman working behind the counter told us she was part owner. She was very friendly, helpful, and clearly had a passion for reading. She was familiar with all of the local/indie authors in the store and seemed very well read across various genres.
