I spoke to Maria, and shared information regarding the coverage I had recieved, and the property in question. Maria promised to get back to me quickly, and she kept her word. She let me know that I had an exceptionally low rate with the existing carrier, and should definitely renew it. She didn't try to upsell me, invent silly reasons why the existing coverage was not good, or any of the other shenanigans that too many of us have come to expect from some insurance folks, sad to say. My Mini Cooper's premium had suddenly doubled despite that fact I had no accidents, no claims, no tickets, nothing. After an hour+ of phone calls with various agents in corporate offices, one of whom stated flatly that her hands were tied and there was nothing she could do to help me, I was ready to switch insurers after nearly three decades with GEICO. In a last effort, I phoned my local GEICO agent, Richard Nguyen in Hawthorne. He asked me to give him a half hour to work on the issue and he would phone me back. Less than 30 minutes later he phoned to tell me the issue was resolved. My insurance had returned to its previous fair rate. Going forward, Richard is my go-to contact for all matters related to car (and motorcycle) insurance.
