This my first visit here...how stunningly elegant! If you have a problem with no tv, finicky locks & uneven ground; this might not be the place for you (no handicap access: there was a step up to my room, cobblestone walkways). The GLUTEN-FREE food is GREAT!! Comfortable, low light accommodations (not many electrical outlets!). Every room has a name; mine was Robinson Jeffers (a poet).

The Ansel Adams room.

This place is a beautiful hidden jewel for scholars and artists. As the former home of Mabel Dodge and Dennis Hopper, the house has hosted a long list of the most interesting Americans of the 20th century. It is quiet and contemplative, but only a 10 minute walk to Taos restaurants (you can even cut through Kit Carson Park). The rooms are simple. No televisions or telephones. There is wifi only in the grand salon. Breakfast is great!

Lovely, isn't it?!?

A beautiful home and property. The serenity and peace you feel here is something to really embrace and absorb. Mabel Dodge Luhan's story is one to learn and the same with the Dennis Hopper time of ownership. Go... visit... quite the experience

On my very first trip to NM, my friend and I traveled around to Taos and decided to stay at this house, mainly because it had ties to Georgia O'Keefe. We arrived in the evening and went up to the main house to register. The house was charming and creaky and there were multiple sitting rooms with fireplaces. Our room was in another building adjacent to the main. Upon entering into the room, it was sparse and quaint. However, when we were sleeping the winds howled like banshees. Unfortunately, there was no hair dryer in the room nor a tv to drown out the banshee noises. Each morning, breakfast was offered in the main room. The breakfast was this incredible spread -- different every day. Fresh fruit, coffee, juice, cereal, eggs.... it was above and beyond the normal continental breakfast at usual B&Bs. Our only grip was the next day, my friend notice an ant infestation in our room. We were immediately given another room to stay in which was fine as well. The staff was very hospitable and accommodating.

Juniper House on the grounds has 4 guestrooms and a classroom/meeting room for private retreats and small groups.

We stayed in the Deluxe Suite which included 2 queen beds , fire place, seating area, restroom and a back door to snow and mountains. The music at night in the bar lounge area never disappoints. Breakfast is great as well. Can't wait to visit again.

The grounds are pretty, but so many things were in disrepair...we even met a couple that were greeted by a flying bat in their room when they opened the door. Changed rooms. Again, the property itself is lovely with full grown trees and decent lawn areas. The burger and fries at the grill were excellent, and the live music was too. Breakfast was just ok, and you can't get a Bloody Mary. (Our waitress said yes, and was scolded by the head waitress, NO!) The staff was friendly, but understaffed, so it took a long time for orders. The room fridge is very loud, but the beds were extremely comfortable and the ac worked perfectly. There were however, big holes in the bedding. Our room key had to be reprogrammed once; frustrating when you have to use the restroom, and book it down to the front office to get a new one. Speaking of...the toilets and sinks are SO low. I feel bad for anyone with mobility issues. . I wouldn't consider this Inn wheelchair accessible, no way with the uneven ground, tree roots lifting up sidewalks and asphalt. There is something strangely charming about the place, being in operation since 1929 under a different name and turned 'Sagebrush Inn' in 1933. The sweeping curves of the architecture, beautifully carved vigas and corbels were impressive. Would I stay here again? If they made STANDARD repairs and improvements, maybe.

Sheri the front desk clerk was a delight to work with. She found us a room where there was plenty of parking to unhitch a small trailer so we could go to town to eat. Sheri was sweet and helpful in recommending a few restaurants for dinner. The lobby is decorated with local art. There are several cases with jewelry from a local artist. I was very impressed with the prices. I looked at several pieces and bought a beautiful turquoise ring. I would have paid 3 x's the price if I had purchased the same ring on the square. No pressure to purchase, however, the gentleman was very patient with me while I decided between several pieces. The room we stayed in was very spacious, comfortable and very clean. The air conditioner worked well and the bed was comfortable. We did not hear outside noise. The towels were very good quality, not skimpy and small. Great room for a great price. We will definitely stay again. Thank you Sheri for making our stay great! We were given water and granola bars upon checking out. The morning staff was just as friendly.
