Certainly the window display is stacked full of tacky Jesus mirrors and religious memorabilia, jet black mannequins cleary borrowed from somewhere in Africa. I'm loving it. Go in, and there were three old African women at the back. And it became clear that it's a sort of fabric shop, but they sell other stuff as well. It's all piled high to the ceiling. Lots of jewelry. Lots of random stuff. But some beautiful waxed fabrics - and the cheapest that I came across today! They were really friendly and it's quite an experience, just popping in to have a browse. check it

Half Price Jewellers! Oh boy, can't wait to go there and shop for my girlfriend! Will be awesome…read more. right? Well, I'm a bit sceptical about a lot of goods that are sold at discounts - eggs, clothes and jewellery. The goods look shiny enough and worth enough to attract your attention, and the attention of any of the other girls you're shopping for. Good deals on offer you know - 3 for 2 on almost anything! So if you're looking to pimp your girlfriend (not in that sense, I mean like pimp my car...) then here you come.

How thrilling that Yelp is now in the UK- that means I can review my beloved Stephen Einhorn!…read more I discovered Stephen Einhorn last year while doing some random engagement ring searches online. As much as I love the boyfriend (now fiance), and as good as he is with the gift-buying, an engagement ring is a pretty big gift, and I just wanted to be able to at least hint at what I hoped for, since I had a few specifics in mind. I knew I didn't want a diamond, I knew I wanted the stone to be set in the band (I had visions of a stone snagging on every surface in my house). . . I also wanted to make sure the materials used for my ring were ethically sourced. Stephen Einhorn fit the bill perfectly. As soon as I saw the Times Square ring, I was in love. When I saw it with a pink sapphire, I was head over heels. And now, many months later, I am happy to say that it is the most attractive part of my dry, winter-ravaged hands. Sigh. To note, the fiance said that it was exactly what he'd had in mind before I showed it to him. So I just did the legwork. Of course I can't really comment on the customer service or ordering process or anything like that. But I still find myself checking out the website and drooling over the unique, punk-rock-y jewelery. Someday when I have money, I'll come back to SE for gifts. . . mostly for myself.

It aroused…read moreun-christmassy thoughts like, "I'll come back here AFTER Christmas and buy things for myself!" Hey - I never claimed to be a saint. They sell all sorts of interesting jewellery and hair accessories. The products thus far appear to be of good quality but do come at a price: 1 hair clip with a flower on it cost about 18 GBP. Upon entering, I was greeted by a staff member with a small fake flower and upon leaving I had a choice of a 'gift' of a little 10 page notebook or some sort of small satin satchel. I find these 'gift' gestures a bit gimmicky and would prefer less free 'gifts' and perhaps passing that savings on to the consumer in the price of the products. I'm docking 2 stars because there was an offer at the front of the store indicating if you bought 3 items, you received a 20% discount. I picked 2 of the 18 pound hair clips and a headband and was informed at the register that my 2 hairclips only counted as 1 item, because they were on offer for 2 for 30 pounds. I saw this as a really round-about way of cheating a customer out of an expected savings when they've already queued up to pay. That said, I'll give one star back because the staff were very friendly and even got me a new hair clip when they noticed that the one I chose wasn't quite clicking together as it should have. Oh and the music in the store was kickin'!
