Good News looks like every other newsagent from the outside but step inside this tiny little shop…read moreand you'll see that the choice of magazines is what keeps this little store a step ahead of the rest. Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...
There's countless newsagents in Soho, but I love Good News. The fact that they always stock and…read moresell my favourite magazine Monocle almost a week before it's supposed to hit newsstands makes all the difference to me. No to mention they stock a fantastic selection of international magazines and newspapers that one would often have trouble finding (especially American publications)! Definitely warrants a 5 star rating.
I do feel that newsagents are the last custodians of our historical communities. Capital newsagents are well set up and cover every aspect you'd expect from newsagent. They have an excellent array of daily press and monthly magazines, the fridge is stocked full of drinks, there's a massive amount of sweets, whilst in the back you'll find an impressive amount of stationary, cards and wrapping paper. The added extras are the ability to send money abroad via Western Union and you can do the lottery. Whoo hoo! I am impressed with Capital Newsagents. Rock on guys!

It is a common thing in London to see shops in touristy areas charging exorbitant prices for tiny,…read morepoorly made tchotchkes. A post card for 4 pounds? Seriously? The owners are often overly agressive and generally unnerving to deal with. I personally avoid Oxford Street at all costs for this reason. Amongst the slew of garbage souvenir shops to be found in London, Destefanis is a gem. Relatively unassuming from the outside (where postcards are on sale for 1Pnd, 50P, and 5P (!!!) ), the shop is filled with reasonably priced trinkets, post cards, knicknacks, sweets, newspapers, and magazines. The shopkeepers are sweet people who are friendly and helpful, and very pleasant to interact with. The next time you need a tiny red bus to bring home to a friend at Christmas, Destefanis is your best bet.
Great coffee, chill bohemian vibe, and surprisingly friendly staff for this part of the world. The…read moreunique juxtaposition of the chill coffeeshop atmosphere with a serious love of music makes this one of the cooler coffee shops you'll find around this area, and the food is nothing to turn your nose up at, either. They have a modest menu of great quality coffees, made to near-perfection, and a menu boasting of both healthy and not-so-healthy bagels and pastries, which are all equally delicious, (yes, the healthy ones, too). They have decadent toffee cheesecakes and big vegan cookies made with oats and coconut, chewy brownies and high-quality chocolates. Pick your poison, they all pair perfectly with their java. Check out their social media pages, as I hear they usually hold special events that you don't want to miss if you're ever in the area. So, take a chill pill and enjoy.

I ordered ice latte with oat milk, which is pretty impressive as I didn't expect much anyway. It's quite "milky" but since it's plant based, it doesn't make my stomach suffer from digesting the drink (like I usually have to). I like the ratio of coffee and milk in my latte, the drink tastes creamy but neither of the flavor is overpowering. Overall it is a chill, warm, and cozy local cafe. It's also a good spot for 2-3 people to sit down and chat on weekend afternoon!
