This cafe is located in the Marks and Spencer (Or M and S) in Bury. It is quite a big cafe in quite a big store on the first floor.
Being located on the 1st floor can be good or bad, the way they have set out this cafe with big glass windows makes it a really nice view of Bury, but on the other hand, being located on the first floor with clothing means the cafe is no where near the food hall, and it isn't just a place you can run in to get a quick to go coffee as using a lift and/or escalator can make it a bit of an ordeal, especially for the disabled having to use a lift, but still if you are sitting in, it is still okay as it is a really good view.
The gluten free sandwich range here is satisfactory for a store of this calibre, with a good selection of sandwiches of 2 flavours on my most recent visit, yet they stock none on my first visit.
The staff seem nice here and they have a good selection of coffee syrups including a Triple Sec flavouring syrup (which I picked) which is basically quite a nice chocolate, orange sort of latte (without the alcohol that is in Triple Sec) The chocolate is not that noticeable but it still does make your latte much nicer, and I did really enjoy my drink.
My gluten free sandwich was a little pricey and not as good as I would of expected, as I find the standard changes between different batches, hence not making it worth the asking price of around £3.70, especially for that size!!!
Afternoon Tea is available here, but obviously I'd rather go to the Hilton for it, or a expensive, luxurious hotel, because I'm posh like that !!!
I feel 3 stars is a little unfair for this cafe, but I still can not give more for the following reasons:
- I want to try out this cafe some more before increasing the rating
- The location situation (but this isn't too important with the view)
- The sandwich was a little pricey and not up to the best possible quality (Main reason)
- Different staff managed to "dive in" to my conversation with another staff member, although I admit they were being very helpful, she didn't look like a trainee so it was a little rude, but I still don't feel it was intended to be like that. read more
