When I called around, all shops that work on Evinrudes had wait times that would have shut down my vacation. When I called Mel's, the guy was very helpful and we discussed my issue for 15 mins or so! I am fairly handy and wished to fix it myself if I could to continue my boating and fishing since the wait time for shops wasn't too good for me. Mel's helped me out with ideas, and combined with a half hour of Google and You Tube, my issue turned out to be the thermostat, a very simple fix. One of Mel's suggestions as possible culprit, BTW. If I ever have something I can't handle while up here, Mel's is where I'm going. This guy is great.

Been coming here for years! And we will be back out again this summer. Don't believe the 1-star…read morereviews here, but DO your due diligence. This place is spacious and amazing for hosting big families (we have 19 coming this summer). We have been coming to Spider Lake/Teal Lake/Lost Land Lake for over 30 years every few summers. It's very relaxing. Amenities are few so bring your groceries. This place is not a 5-star luxury hotel so come with realistic expectations, nowhere around here is like that. The entire point is to unwind a bit and enjoy nature and that's exactly what you get. The lake is beautiful and serene, with plenty of wildlife. We often see beavers, eagles, herons, and SO much more in the channel a quick paddle or boat ride away. They rent pontoons and kayaks/canoes and paddleboats very reasonably. City folk (like myself) might notice there's not a lot to do around here, and that's kind of the point. So again, come in knowing you're disconnecting for a bit and go to nearby Hayward for Zoom meetings (30 min drive). I find these places to be a quite reasonable price considering, but I am coming from San Diego, so your mileage may vary. I literally paid more for 1 night in Tijuana (place on the beach w pool, 5 bedroom) than we did for the same size house here for a week. I call that a bargain! The staff are very friendly but it's a family run business so don't expect that big resort type attentive staff. Let them know when you're coming, call from town so they know to expect you, and you should have no issues at check-in. Don't miss Hayward for stuff to do: we love Tremblay's fudge and Go-Karting. But here, it's all about enjoying nature at it's finest, unspoiled and tucked away. The type of place where in season my daughter can share her sandwich with the ducklings by tossing bread off the pier.

We spent a wonderful weekend at the resort. Telephone conversations prior to our visit, and…read moredirections provided were excellent. The Lodge has a very rustic appeal with a comfortable Great Room with fireplace that the owner was quick to light for us. Meals were served in an inviting room just off that area. Our meals were excellent, and very reasonably priced. Our server, Allie, took great care of us for the two days we visited. Our cabin was right on the lake shore with a fantastic view. The one room cabin was larger than we expected, clean but rustic. Hey, rustic was what we were expecting and loved. In the cabin was a book more complete than I have seen at any resort outlining everything you could want to know, and more about the resort, fishing, local sightseeing, and local lore. The owners are very pleasant to talk to, and very accommodating. If you are dog lovers, but don't own one of your own, the three resort dogs are very friendly and appreciative of attention. I enjoyed sitting in front of the blazing fireplace and petting them during my stay. You can't go wrong staying here.

Rub-A-Dub-Dub got the job done…read more I had five or so loads to do while on vacation, and opted to go here. One thing I found was that most people drop off their laundry for the staff to do, rather than waiting around to do it themselves. Still, the staff were very friendly and helpful and showed me which machines would likely work best. A few other things to know if you come here: * It seemed like half of the machines were out of order, so finding an open machine can get stressful if you don't have time to wait around. * But there are several high capacity machines, so that can help you get several loads done at once. * You need quarters for all the machines. They don't take credit cards. I quickly worked through the quarters I had brought with me, and my husband dropped by to give me $20 to finish. * There is a quarter machine, though, if you have cash. * This spot had some chairs so you have a place to sit while you wait. There are also some tables for folding too, but like with the machines, you might have to jump on an empty one fast. Again, it got the job done. I was able to finish my laundry. The staff were friendly. But it's helpful to know these things going in.
