One company has motorcycle towing in its name, and DOES NOT tow motorcycles! What the heck, man??? Moto Tow is affordable, but wait there's more. They arrive on time! There is no wide window with them. You get a concise ETA (estimated time of arrival). Speaking of affordable, don't bother calling those $50 tow anywhere in Dade or Broward. Why? Because they A) are too slammed to help you that day. Or B) they don't tow motorcycles!!! Our insurance company [Progressive] bungled tow requests numerous times. They tried to charge $137, claimed we exceeded the number of tows in a rolling six month period. They had wide windows of arrival times. They worked with tow companies that cancelled on them, which meant they had to contact other companies to do the tow. Got jostled about 3-4 times one day!!! Once, they scheduled the tow for the wrong day and time. Scheduling a tow online is a joke because you still have to call. Their customer service and towing service is not connected. Want to avoid all of that? Simply call Moto Tow. Consider it a done deal. One last thing. If you pay in cash, have the exact amount. The driver does not make change. He tells you that up front, so there is no surprise on your part. Your bike will be secured in a wheel chock before being tied down with ratchet straps. This provides added peace of mind as your bike is hoisted. As crazy as it sounds, we would rather call Moto Tow, and pay their rate than deal with our insurance company because we have free roadside assistance, which includes FREE towing up to 12 miles. We've gone with Moto Tow twice. Affordable, reliable arrival time, good service, and the guy with the sunglasses is a hoot...as long as your ride doesn't leak oil. Lesson learned.

Mr. Reese is more reliable than our own insurance company's towing providers. We only had one or two successful tows with Progressive. And by successful, we mean timely tow truck arrival, and no confusion with if we should be charged or not for the tow. North Star Towing gives you an estimated time of arrival, and adheres to it! If there is anything that throws off that timeline, Mr. Reese will tell you. He is excellent when it comes to communicating with you while he is in transit. We primarily go with North Star Towing because they tow motorcycles, and treat them with kid gloves when loading and unloading them. But North Star also tows standard vehicles. Needing a tow is a stressful situation. Meaning, you a need reliable, timely, and trustworthy company. This is what you will find with Mr. Reese's company, North Star Towing. It was a dark dreary night and I was playing "Dodge the Orange Construction Barrels" when all of the sudden BLAM! I smacked my left front tire into one of Lauderdale's notoriously unmarked median curbs and hit it hard enough to blow the tire. What to do? It's dark, no street lights, I'm in an unsavory section of the city and of course sexually vulnerable....which I am most of the time anyway. Feeling bad about the whole thing I decided to hobble away on my flat to a safer location. But to my delight as I was pulling away another car hit the same damn curb not only blowing a tire but breaking a tie rod. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to take delight in the suffering of another, but it really did make me happy to know that I wasn't the only one to hit that damnable curb. So with tire flopping I made it to the parking lot of a Home Depot where I gave AAA a phone call. They told me they'd have a wrecker out to me within 45 minutes. However, within 15 minutes this nice looking sparking white wrecker arrived with the nicest most helpful guy ever behind the wheel. Though he was initially going to change my tire, we both soon discovered that my car didn't come with a spare. But no problem, we front end lifted it for towing by the wrecker which I hopped into for the ride. I mentioned to the driver that as my tires were well worn I was going to get four new ones. That being the case, he very helpfully took my car directly to Tire Choice where we left it off and then drove me to my home. The driver of this tow truck just couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and polite or more knowledgeable about what he was doing. The company involved is Affordable Battery Inc. in Fort Lauderdale. I was charged approximately $245 for a battery, then another $70 for installation. Now I am being told I need to pay another $100 to reset my BMW's computer after the battery installation. My total cost is now approaching $500, and I'm also dealing with electrical problems that appeared after the battery was replaced, including issues with my lights and other electrical functions. What concerns me most is that I don't know whether my original battery actually needed to be replaced in the first place. I relied on the technician's assessment because I expected professional and trustworthy service through AAA. If a battery replacement causes problems that weren't there before the service, why should the customer have to keep paying additional charges to correct them? I am requesting an itemized explanation of every charge, documentation of the battery testing that justified the replacement, and an explanation of what was done to my BMW during installation. I'm sharing my experience because AAA members deserve transparency about who is being dispatched to their vehicles and what additional charges they may be asked to pay. AAA -- I need you to address this. Affordable Battery Inc. -- I need an explanation and resolution. I'm keeping all receipts, payment records, communications, and documentation of the vehicle's condition before and after the service. One interesting thing I found: public reviews for this business include other complaints about battery pricing, disputed battery testing/replacement, and post-installation issues, although there are also many positive reviews. He called before to ask what everyone else had tried then came prepared with multiple options. After a couple of minutes, he was able to start my car, drive it down out of the garage and tow it to the dealership. He was very professional, punctual and creative.
