I had business to attend to at the gallery as I was preparing my first solo show with them, but, still I asked about melange de lux, just next door. Helena, director at the gallery noted that her earring were from there. Her earrings were so cute and used the back of the earring as a layered piece, like little amazing sculptures. I could not wait to visit the shop. Two days later I finally had time. I walked into the shop with my teen daughter and a friend of mine. We were immediately greeted by the adoreable owner and his cutest French bulldog. The owner, who proceeded to answer our questions about the jewelry, noted its also available online!!! Once I made a choice on the jewelry I moved onto clothes, and oh my goodness there is so much stylish variety! My daughter found the cutest blush colored anorak with black contrast zip and a lining with a rose pattern. The cutest!! I tried on many things and he chose items that he thought would be flattering, I felt very pampered. There were a few jackets and cover ups and cute kimonos, I almost chose but then I spotted.... The perfect handbag! Black leather large with fringe! Swoon worthy! The strap was not with it yet he shipped it to me, I live in California USA. I miss this shop, I will buy their jewelry online and somehow I'm going to purchase clothing. I just don't have this sort of shop here in California.

Jensen started the company in 1904. I enjoyed walking around the store and seeing this many examples of Jensen silver in one place. Like my visit to the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain store (literally right next to the Georg Jensen store), I treated this like a free museum experience. The staff was very polite and nice and we never felt uncomfortable that it was obvious that we weren't to actually buy anything. Although all of this is beautiful, and well worth seeing, it's very high-end, i.e., super-expensive. But as a tourist, I enjoyed it tremendously. I find that going into stores like Tiffany's, Georg Jensen, etc. gives you a chance to appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship without any obligation to buy. I wouldn't got out of my way to visit this store (unless you are a huge fan of silver), but it is well worth the time to visit if you are in the neighborhood.

They still do new designs, and they do keep the same spirit and quality as the old ones. The silver works are expensive, but quality costs. You can get more affordable designs in stainless steel. The service in the store is really good. You get great advice, the staff is attentive, and they always wrap gifts in the most beautiful way. It's such a privilege to go here.

There's even a gourmet market in the basement below it with a bakery, pizza, fresh fruits & vegetables, and many specialty chocolates and candies. This part of the store connects to the underground Kongens Nytorv metro station. That's quite convenient for commuters on their way home from work. It's also great for tourists like us who want to buy last minute things like Lakrids of Bülow. There's a shop for that here as well. It's also where you'll find a coffee shop. We would eventually find out that there are many different cafés located on various floors of this department store. We found an express version of Hallernes Smørrebrød. I've written a separate review for this location, but for some reason it just doesn't show up in my Yelp activity. I just wish I had known about the other restaurant location on the top floor that boasts beautiful views of the square. We visited twice and somehow missed it. If anything, it would be nice to see a full directory of each floor listed on their website or near the entrance of the ground floor. The building is on the site of what was once the Hotel du Nord. Hans Christian Andersen was a resident of the hotel from 1838 to 1847. It's not the same building, but they supposedly recreated his room. It can be accessed on the 3rd floor. It's a second part of the store that I regret not seeing. Hence, the 4 star review for not having a clear map to everything without having to go floor by floor. It was a great find when walking through Kongens Nytorv Square. It's difficult to miss the beautiful French architecture of this building. It draws you in as you discover what's inside of it.

The location is just few steps away from the busy Nørreport, so it's reachable by any means of transportation. The service is also super friendly and approachable but not in the stalking mode. Despite being simple and functional, it's thoughtful, classic and modern. Price Point: Mid-range? particularly affordable during the current sale season. It would be on-par with Dune or BCBG in pricing. Who it fits: While age isn't the issue with these clothes, I could see a trendy older woman wear it very differently from a sophisticated tween. It's not flashy though. If that's your style, skip this.
