The fact of it being only outdoor clearly vexed many of our group and with the price charged it's not good enough. Our guide was Amber. She was wonderful not only at her scripted job but could answer lots of questions on characters and locations. She was 5 star great. Nothing fazed her. She told us it's the largest set of its kind in the world and it's certainly impressive. I'm not the big fan, my wife is, but it is likely the greatest soap opera ever put on a screen. There is a professional photographer there who'll take your photo but only at the pub - the Rovers Return Inn - that you can buy at the expensive gift shop at the end of your tour. Not only do you get your photo (I think £10) but you get a code to download it too. The only bargain of the day. The biggest problem of the tour aside from no inside sets was tours running into each other. They are not far enough apart. It marred the experience to an extent too. The Street means much to undoubtedly millions of people. It is iconic in its truest sense. It has all the ingredients of greatness: the posh TV executives didn't think it any good; they only commissioned a few shows, the original name was awful and on the day it aired it wasn't even named Coronation St but according to Amber the press mis published its name (I think Jubilee street) and the tv crew has to change all the names on the sets on the day the first programme aired. It was also quirky with strong female roles as Tony Warren it's creator didn't just use actors but old vaudeville acts and club singers who had retired again; like the show itself he was a genius - in the truest meaning of the word. I love the story that he picked hard nailed Violet Carson as Ena Sharples (nee Schofield) because she was a real life harridan. Finally parking is difficult around the area so walking and the ability to do so for a few hours is very necessary or if you are pushing a wheel chair you'll need stamina. The toilets are in raised portacabins once you are through security with a validated ticket and surprisingly even though ITV have farmed it out they allow it very much to be disabled unfriendly; not a good look. If there are disabled facilities I couldn't see them. I couldn't check in on Yelp as it told me that I was too far away when standing on the set.

Really great ride...for a quick turn and burn on the Mersey Ferry's Snowdrop…read more We hopped on the ferry from the Gerry Marsden Pier (Liverpool side) and hopped on and off (but you don't have to) Seacombe (Wirral side). Since we skipped the 50min tour (we were already on a bus tour two days prior), we made it a quick out and back via the commuter ferry times. Going before 9a.m. (or after 5:30 p.m.) will save you in cash and time. The staff both on shore and aboard were extremely helpful and nice. They made the trip seamless, and it's probably 10min one way (10min back). It's too short for seasickness, so it's twice as good. It was an iconic trip (even as brief as it was), and you can do it on the cheap, and TIP: Pay on the other side! Recommend the commuter ferry!

If history has taught us anything, it's that the more we find out about the world around us the less we know. Arrogance in our "knowledge" of the world makes us rather redundent when it comes to a phenomenon that is as old as time. Ghosts, Spirits, Poltergeists................ Thus despite the idea of ghosts or paranormal activity being dumbed down through film, the idea in its simplicity chills us to the core. Whether we like it or not or whether we choose to or not. Chester is however arguably the most haunted place on this Island of ours. I remember my first ever trip there and I had no idea that it was infact the most haunted place in the country. Yet I do remember walking the walls of the city thinking, I would NOT like to be walking around here at night!!!!!! Whether you go on the ghost tour or not I urge you to read a plethora of stories/events that have been documented here. Let me tell you I've read a few, and it did send a few chills down my spine as I recalled some of my visits. In fact as I write this an uneasy feeling washes over me. The story of Sarah who frequents a chocolate shop which stands to this day has haunted me from the moment I read it. Why do these stories have so much power over us? The mind boggles. So if you are a horror film fan like me. Don't bother with the next blockbuster. Go on their website read a few stories and if you dare go on one of the ghost tours which happens every saturday night 7:30, lasting an hour & half. Better still why don't you arrange a tour of your own, the geography of ghost sightings is no secret. Why not walk the walls yourself around midnight?? I dare you, I double dare you!!!!!!!

Lisa was competent, fun, knowledgeable, funny, patient, entertaining and genuinely cared that everyone in her charge had a great experience. It was not the ideal day with rains and winds that caused Lisa to change from Plan A to Plan B to Plan C on the fly.
