The cafe churns out a respectable selection for a small kitchen manned by only a couple of staff AND they have Merlo coffee. Prices are not outrageous especially if you're used to the city. There is a light meal and breakfast menus with daily chalkboard specials. We went for afternoon tea - devonshire tea w/ 2 scones and cheese board - triple cream brie & vintage cheddar, muscatels & lavosh (there was actually a wide range of cheese to choose from I'm just a bit boring with my cheese). Staff were very friendly and we had such a nice time we went back for breakfast the next day! Coconut porridge and herb & cheese omelette were really tasty - our friends got The Works and Eggs Benedict. Total bill $98 - incl coffees & drinks (no split bills). The view is amazing and you will find yourself staring off at it during your meal. Well worth the visit!

It's clean comfortable and air-conditioned - well worth a stop if you are looking for a rest and browse of local food and wine. The cafe /restaurant is order at the counter. We ordered a range of food for lunch, including sweet potato fries, pizza and burgers- it was all good. Service was on the slow side but being middle of summer we enjoyed the air con inside and happily chatted. Yes it's a tourist trap. But that said it is better than many highway "icons" like the pie shop on the Pacific Motorway around Beenleigh. Would stop here again.

Unfortunately, it did not live up to my first visit :( There were only a few varieties of apples available for purchase. Everything else was local and imported cheeses, deli meats and meats such as venison, lamb and rabbit. They also had various imported and local olive oil, vinegars and a bit of antipasto. While this is good and good if you are packing for a picnic, I was hoping they will still stock the fresh fruit and veg. They also have an on site cafe and gift shop but I found it very over priced and I can get the same goods in the middle of Stanthorpe cheaper. I do not think I will make a return visit there unfortunately :(

He makes all of the alcohol on site and loves to experiment with different flavours and textures. My partner (the beer Connoisseur) was very curious to try the beers. As he is Britsh and German by heritage, he does know a thing or two about beer! He found the beers a bit hit and miss. He really liked the stout but did not like the pilsner beer. After sampling most of them, he settled on the stout, ginger and wheat beers. I also purchased a choc-mint liquer which I have had in the past and really enjoyed. He has a very large selection of liquers and you will defintely find one that will appeal to you. This is a must-stop place in Stanthorpe - not just to sample some finely made alcohol but just to admire the castle!

The "castle" is surrounded by quiet vineyard and a large neat forecourt. I was surprised at the size of the range- from port to alcoholic ginger beer, rum liqueur to something called sex at sunset- a blend of 9 liqueurs and wine. To be honest, the range wouldn't be as big if not for the different shaped bottles, but the extent of flavours is still amazing. You will find anything there you wish to try, and they even have little 100ml individual bottles behind the counter for purchase if you can't commit to everything!
