Awful. Would give a 0 stars if possible. We found Dana on yelp and hired him based on the other…read morereviews. We sought his help to assist us in navigating a trademark conflict. He said it was trademarks were his "wheelhouse" yet was not able to tell us very basic things like what our date of first use is. We asked Dana if we might be able to avoid the opposition by changing our application's scope of services to remove those that conflicted with the other company. His response was that he would need to have his clerk do some research which we would be charged for. He told us to budget $1000 for his clerk to find out the answer. He required a $1000 retainer in order to work with us. Several weeks later we'd blown through the $1000 with nothing to show for it but a handful of email responses and a document he reviewed. The document was only a handful of pages long and he made just a few revisions. Within those few revisions sloppy punctuation, or lack there of, that we had to request that he correct. After realizing that our $1000 was gone with almost nothing to show for it, we relieved Dana of his responsibilities. His reply was that we still owed him a balance of $87.50. on top of the $1000. We had no additional communication with Dana after that until today, we received an invoice for $145, for email communication. Dana showed very clearly that he had absolutely no interest in our case or in assisting us to reach a resolution that would be beneficial to our company. There was no sense of team, or any effort or thought on his part other than to respond directly and literally to our questions, charging apparently for every minute.

He has become a great friend in the process, and is someone I turn to with all kinds of questions. He is a businessman and an investor himself, so he knows how to evaluate the options not just from a standpoint of legality, but also from profitability, and find the solutions that accomplish both.

Of course, we're also looking for on going legal advice on different issues and Internet law seems to be Richard's forte. Right from the start Richard was very responsive. I received a quick reply to the request for a consultation and he was also courteous and flexible about the time. We had to reschedule the meeting a couple of times as Richard was pulled away supporting existing clients, but once we did meet I felt that Richard gave me his full attention and was very interested in providing the best solution for us. Considering this was a free consultation, I felt like we got some good solid advice on copyrighting, Internet legislation etc. I would rate Richard higher if it weren't for a difference of opinions on S/C Corps vs. LLCs. We favor an LLC as a very light weight way of getting started and Richard recommended more of an S or C Corp route based on the information I gave him about our likelihood of going public. Ultimately, during our discussion we were not able to rule out an LLC as a viable option, which I was hoping to do. The consultation was free though, and in order to get targeted advice and specific reasons for a selection we'd really need to pay for some of his time researching the topic. Richard obviously has an ongoing interest in Internet technology and companies, and can converse fluently about different players. His free consultation greatly helped us move forward toward making a decision and helped me see exactly which areas of law I needed to look into further. I would recommend checking in with him if you're incorporating a new web site.
