This is no understatement as I eats steak multiple times a week, always ribeye and most of the time US prime. However this steak was incredible and the peppercorn sauce again did not overpower the steak but rather complimented it. I finished with the cheese plate and a glass of port. The cheese selection was spot on and I exceptionally enjoyed the blue. The chutney was probably the best accompaniment for the cheese selection. Crackers were ok and I could have used a toast but it didn't matter. Service was impeccable, even in a rushed setting it was perfect. All suggestions were spot on, never felt rushed and it always felt friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I would definitely come back and go out of my way to come back.

The Botanist was an excellent find when we stayed the night in downtown Newcastle. Located on Monument Mall, you have to up three flights of stairs or take the lift (elevator) to reach the main bar and lounge that has a strong botanical garden theme that is quite beautiful, especially with the location being under a dome. The dome is gorgeous and really enhances the botanical garden and atrium effect. The cocktails are very good as well. I ordered a buttered coconut old fashioned that was quite rich and creamy, but very satisfying with the toasted coconut and butter-washed Makers Mark bourbon with homemade salted honey syrup. My wife enjoyed her Botanist Ultimate Gin & Tonic as we took a table with these plushy lounge chairs. The bartender was fantastic and friendly in making us the cocktails. Really nice guy who made us feel at home. Additionally, they have a rooftop balcony to enjoy the drinks; however, on this evening, it was windy and cold (at least for us Floridians) to where we decided to stay warmer inside. But we would return in a heartbeat.

My food was served in an average time, the quality was slightly poorer than other branches, the quantity of chips was a little less than I'd be used too, and perhaps their was a little too much sauce on my chicken as some of it was still on when it was served, overall the deal was okay, satisfactory, average. The view however from the upper floor was very good, I've attached a photo of it to my review if anyone is interested in learning about this branch of Nando's further and the view of course. I asked if she had a list of the bread they do, and she handed me a Qype card! Whoo hoo for promoting Qype! Not so hot on getting me more info on produce sadly. Wonderful vegetables and fruit stands where you get can a serious deal on great vegetables. Cheapest and most authentic pick and mix selection I have ever seen Fish monger, show repair, tea shop, cafes, clothing and boot sale, cd shops, home repair, clothing alterations ... Even a room with a scale in it! Grainger Market is magical. A must see, I consider the market a tourist attraction because of how traditional it is. We found out about it using the free StreetAway app, and managed to get 34% off 3 Tapas and 2 Drinks! The location, as I previously touched on, is absolutely stunning, and is a real hidden gem. It's nestled right on the River Tyne, next to the Swing Bridge, and we went at night, meaning it was a fantastic sight to see the lights of Newcastle. As for the food itself, I couldn't have asked for more. I'm normally a picky eater, so was very apprehensive about actually eating here. However, I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised (who'd have thought Squid would taste so good!). I would definitely come here again, whether it be for a meal with friends, a date, or another work night out. Great stuff!
