The invoice number was CVCS30671. Background Information I requested an inspection on the car prior to purchasing the vehicle. I found a mechanic in the Marble Hill area and agreed to pay for the inspection. The owner of vehicle preferred that I take the car to Crown Chevrolet, I agreed. When I spoke to the mechanic at Crown Chevrolet, I explained to him that I was a single mother without a vehicle. I had been without a car for over four months. I explained to this mechanic that money was very tight and that I was using my income tax money to purchase this vehicle. I stressed to this mechanic that I would not have the additional funds to pay for repairs. He told me that he would thoroughly check this vehicle out and would let me know if any repairs were needed. Following the inspection, the mechanic reported that the vehicle was in great shape other than a "boot" needing repair. He said the boot didn't need to be repaired immediately and could wait. I even stressed again that I did not have money to make any repairs and the mechanic from your location confirmed that the car was good to go. So, I purchased the vehicle from the seller. They shared no concerns and reassured that the car was in great condition. Since the vehicle was not insured, because I could not afford insurance yet, I rented a trailer from U-Haul to bring the car home to Edwardsville, Illinois. The car remained in my garage for a few weeks as I saved enough money to purchase insurance on the vehicle. I immediately experienced issues once I started driving the car. First, I noticed oil spots in my garage on the ground, but the car was not low on oil. Second, the car died twice during the first week of driving the vehicle. So, I scheduled an appointment with Riteway Foreign Car Repair in Collinsville, Illinois. The mechanic (owner) was shocked at the condition of the car. The timing belt was terribly cracked and worn, which at any time could have damaged the motor. The radiator was beyond rotten and crumbled upon removing. The alternator belt was cracked as well and the alternator was not charging the battery under 40 MPH. Both the battery and the alternator needed replacement immediately. Both boots of the transaxles are ripped, not just one. The owner of Riteway explained that there was no way that a skilled mechanic would not have caught these issues. He explained that the car had obvious oil marks underneath it, which should have trigged a concern. I was able to purchase the battery, alternator, and radiator from Autozone. My Uncle replaced the battery and radiator for me. My Uncle took pictures of the condition of the radiator. I used Riteway to install the alternator and timing belt. Riteway was disgusted at the condition of these parts. I had to borrow money to make these repairs. I have yet to replace the boots on the vehicle, unfortunately, I do not have the funds at this time to replace the boots. The air condition does not work and the seatbelts do not lock, however, I understand these two things would not be obvious things that a mechanic would have checked. However, they are still expenses on my purchase list. The seller did share with me that she had problems with the air conditioner the summer before. I do believe the seller disclosed any concerns or issues that her and her husband were aware of in regards to the condition of the car. She explained they did not use the car often. Gordan is the owner of Riteway Foreign Car Repair, which has been around for 30 years plus and has a review of 5 stars. His address is 415 N. Hesperia St. Collinsville, IL 62234 and his phone number is (618) 345-9055. Please feel free to contact him in regards to what I have shared above; he would be able to go into more detail with you. Compensation 1) I am requesting to be reimbursed the amount of money I paid to your facility to have the car thoroughly inspected. 2) I am requesting to be reimbursed by your facility for issues that were definitely obvious such as a faulty timing belt and radiator. I have spent over a $1,000 on parts and labor to this vehicle and I still don't have the car even up to par yet. Sincerely, Wendy M. Note: I never received a response nor even reimbursement for their services. Very disappointing.
